I don't know if this has been thought of or mentioned already, but I was thinking today (I know, "oh crap, there goes the galaxy") and had a cool idea for crafters, and it would really be beneficial to all, and still add emmersion to the game.
Here's the thought... what if a bed was more than just a piece a furniture to sit on? I mean, what if, instead of always going to an entertainer to heal BF, or to ease wounds, you could go home, lay down in bed, and rest the BF and wounds away. It would basicly give everyone the meditative capabilities that a TKM has, they just work a little slower, and you'd have to go home and rest to do it. Am I making any sense?
This would also give our homes more purpose than just storage sheds.

It is a good idea and I've actually never heard it mentioned before so 5 stars for you for originality!
However, there are two main problems I see with this. First and foremost, how it would affect other players. As soon as you implement something like this you'd have all of the entertainers and medics screaming nerf and maybe rightly so. Personally, I only get my BF and wounds healed right before I'm about to be buffed. That way I start out an evening of slaughter and mayhem fresh and ready to go. If I were able to passively heal my wounds by going to my bed and "sleeping" all night I would never have any reason to visit the cantina or the med center. If something like what you're suggesting were implemented I predict that we would see a massive increase in the number of players running "AFK Macros" andleaving their characters logged on twenty-four hours a day.
The second problem I see with this deals with Jump to Lightspeed. With the addition of JTL a very large percentage of the player base now has a traveling house in the form of their Sorosuub yacht. If all I need is a bed then I wouldn't even have to go home, I could just hop up into my ship and run my "rest macro" up in space. A way to work around this second problem would be to put a restriction on this healing capability of beds that allows them to function only in the house where your character has declared residency.
Again, a good idea that just needs to be polished a bit more. Good luck!

very good points...and I especially like the idea of it only applying in the home where you've declared residency...as then I would have to decide if it's more convenient to go to the entertainer or med center just down the road, or travel all the way to LOK where my residence is. Very good points.
