I dunno if those help ion the amount sampled or not, but they do give additional range.

just wanted to know, at survey 0-0-0-4 what is teh exp cap, and do you actually get more exp, or sample things faster the farther you go up?

From what I've been able to tell having done that grind by hand twice:

As your boxes go up, you start to get more resources. But not by much. The biggest thing is that you succeed more, and that alone gives you more exp.

The higher your Survey skill, the more resource you sample, more samples are successful, and you can sample at lower densities (at a 30% site instead of needing to find a 50% site before sampling).
