Hey I recently mastered Artisan, and I wasn't too impressed with what can be made as one. I did have a few ideas for stuff that would be neat if we could make them.
The first one is an in game calculator. I personally get tired of having to go out to windows or use a hand held desk calculator to do some of the big math in figuring out how much power to put in a harvester, or how much I need to put into all my structures to balance out maintenance. Hows about an item that you can click on in your inventory and pop up an in game calculator. Having to use a real calculator just messes with the immersion into the game.
The second idea I had was some kinda maintenance planner. All it would be is some item that you could access in your inventory that would pop up a list of everything you have in game that has maintenance, and let you look at the list. I use a real callendar to keep track of all this, and again having to reference this thing while I'm trying to play drives me nuts, not to mention having to update it as I pay maintenance on structures. Programing this thing seems like it would be as easy as having said item in your inventory, and then clicking on it and having a screen come up similar to a vendor screen and just have it show a live table of all your structures, vendors, etc that have maintenance.
The final Item I had an idea for was some kinda battery for the above 2 items. Make it have like 2000 uses or something. Whenever you access the calculator or the planner, it loses a charge.
I'm sure we'll never see anything like this, and I'm not sure if anyone else likes these ideas, but I thought it'd be interesting to throw them out there.

I think the calculator is a great idea!
The maintenance planner is a good idea too, but i don't think the devs would do this, because it would take up lots more space in the databases. The devs don't like this.
What would be nice though is to have an email alert saying that maintenance / power on a structure / factory / harvestor / vendor has run out. Since there are emails that let you know when a factory has finished producing items, and alerts when structure condition is low, i can't imagine it would take too much more programming to introduce maintenance alerts.

yeah and none of us want the servers to lag any more than they already do

We brought up the calculator in the Ranger forum of all places. And the answer we recieved from the devs was a simple no. I know that you can just have a calcuator next to your computer. But for factory runs as well as fiquring prices it would be an invaluable tool.
As for what you get at master artisan you will find that it may not look like much but its very much in demand. You are tied to droid engineers in a big way. I believe the count was 44 of their schematics requires MA components. Plus armorsmiths use one of the components in personal shield generators. Weaponsmith needs one for SG82's as well. When the barrel ever get fixed in chef you will be tied to them as well since that requires a power conditioner. This will be a big source of incomce to MA's when and if it gets fixed.
We all looked at the MA list and thought what you did. But just realize that you need to find your niche now by making contacts with the other crafters who will need your goods.
