So, I do a bit of surveying on the side and I picked up a case of Chandad to help my survey skill, but I don't find it actually help with increasing my survey range. Am I missing something?

If I recall correctly, it does nothing for a character with survey 4. I'm also guessing you have to re-set your survey tool for the new range?

So, I have recently purchased a crate of Chandad to boost my survey skill, but I haven't seen an increase in the survey range. Same is true when using cloths with survey tapes, my survey range does not increase. Anyone know why?

With survey 3 and +10 chandad, I can set my tools to a longer range than normal, but not the full range of survey 4. I can also sample a lower concentrations without getting the density-too-low message.

If your master artisan, you could be capped on Surveying skills with the skill points you currently have, so using this food will make no real difference to your surveying range. Chandad may have been intended for use by people with Non Master Artisan skills on surveying. I'm not sure but this could be the case.

Yes gulp down some Chandad and you can reset your survey tool and get extra distance. It comes in handy if you must maintain survey abilities at a reasonable level and still squeeze out an extra skill box in another area. Without Chandadand only survey 3 for example, the survey process is really slow.

So is it correct to say that if you have survey 4 that this food does nothing for you?

You would need a +20 Survey Chandad to get the next range up.
There have been reports of people with the Force Survey tree (a +20 survey bonus) getting 384 x 384 meter range as opposed to 320, so I think it is safe to assume that every 20 points in survey = an addition al 64 x 64 meter range.
