Ok, I don't really want long answers with examples from ingame and such, I simply don't understand the problem with macros.

I am only about 5 days into the game and I started as an artisan (who later added scout and marksman, but that's a moot point). I used a sample macro as soon as I learned it because it made perfect sense. I don't live on this game, I have it on maybe 2 hours a night and maybe longer on the weekend. Why should I sit at my keyboard and watch my character sample only to have to click Sit every 5 minutes?

How is this hurting harverstor use? you can have 12 harvestors collecting 12 resources while we macro people are simply sitting quietly pulling up our 12 resources a minute not hurting anyone.

So simply put, how do macro's harm anyone?

I think the "harm" it causes is server flood. Basically, the game wants you to be playing the game while you're logged on, and if you're not to log off so it doesn't get bogged down with too much traffic. This helps to prevent server crashes, as well as bad lagging. Of course, that's what SOE's going to tell you....

could they simply make it so the game will not allow a macro to run for more than an hour or something? or if there is no keyboard input in an hour it will autolog the character?
