Thread: Harvester and Buildings Crafting 101?
Hello,
This is my first post (woohoo) and first Id like to say that reading these are very informative. Thank you all for your input. I must admit, Im completely confused about how to make harvesters and buildings. Ive read other posts, but I guess I need a step by step. Ive got engineering 4 and I really want to start making buildings for myself and become a Merchant. Can anyone help me please? If you want to look me up in game:

I think I might be of some assistance.
The first thing you want to do is get materials together and build a deed for a wind generator, because you'll need to power your other extractors. To do this, use your wind survey device (if you don't have one, build one) to find a good source, and put your extractor there. The stipulation here is that you can't use the deed within 1km (kilometer) of any populated areas (cities). So you will have to do some travelling to find a good spot to put it. Then, all you do is open your inventory and double click. It should take you to a top-view map that shows you where you can place it. If there are black-and-yellow-stripe areas on the map, you can't put them there; make sure the generator is green, then single click to place it.
You will find areas that, even though have good wind sources, won't let you build. Most of the time, you'll get a "You Can't Place A Structure In Your Current State" message, which means the server still thinks you're moving. If you keep clicking, it'll eventually tell you that you can't build in that area. If you find one of these, you just have to bite the bullet and look somewhere else.
After you've got your wind generator up and running (which will require LOTS of cash to keep going), build a mineral extractor and find somewhere to put it. The same rule applies; you must be 1km from any populated areas to place it, and even then there's going to be certain areas you just can't build on. Try to search for something you use often (like steel), and hit a good source for it, then place the extractor like you did with the wind generator. You'll need to go to the wind generator and harvest the power it produces in order to fuel this extractor. Plus, they'll need you to put maintanence credits in it to power it.
After that, you just wait for a while (hours, if you can), then come back and harvest the goods. The nice thing is extractors work even when you're not logged on, so when you go to bed and get up the next morning your extractors will have a fresh supply waiting for you to gather.
As far as houses, the only difference between them and extractors is the fact that you don't harvest anything directly from them. The same building rules apply.
Thank you very much. The information you've given will most certainly help out. Im very excited about trying this out tonight.
