As a general rule, GCXP is best obtained by crafting objects that take lots of resources. Someone told me complexity plays a small role in GCXP, but I haven't noticed it that much. You will gain some GCXP from other people using your products, but I wouldn't count on this for anything substantial. As an aside, this is the reason why some bozos insist on putting bone chestplats up in the bazaar for 100cr - and why I promptly buy such underpriced items and destroy them.

That being said, what objects work best? The bone chestplate would be a prime candidat except for a couple of key points:

1. Supply of two major ingrediants (hides and bone) is inconsistent and you certainly can't get them from a harvester.

2. There are 4 pieces that have to be manufactured for the chestplate (1 bone segment and 3 fiberplast panels), so it takes longer than some other items to make.

Still, I make chestplates when I can because the GCXP seems to run about 600 with the components (last one I did got me 640).

For comparison, look at heavy axe (which almost no one will buy and use). I like heavy axe because I can get the materials (steel and wood) from my harvesters and it's a one-step manufacturing process. The last one I did got me 80 GCXP and took a LOT less time than the chestplates do.

Bofa treats are a grind favorite, but they only give 20 GCXP and it doesn't even remotely pay to waste one of your precious bazaar slots on these, since very few people find their benefits valuable enought to waste time buying and eating them.

Right now, I'm pretty discouraged because I am looking at the requirements for the elite crafting professions and seeing numbers like 16k GCXP for armorsmith and 33k GCXP for architect (ack!). Since this translates into grinding and destroying over 400 heavy axes, I predict most artisans when get to even novice levels of the elite professions will have either (A) macro programs or (B) carpal tunnel syndrome, at least for the next few weeks.

If anyone sees a better way to get through this DREADFUL and boring stretch of GCXP, please let me know. I've seen a lot of posts from people who say "Oh, yes, you can craft stuff for the market and make lots of GCXP", but none of them has ever said exactly HOW they do it. I've tried clothing, food, powerups, weapons, armor and even dumb stuff like fishing poles, and I've crafted superb examples of each using the finest materials I could find or buy, and I'm still broke and a looong way from Architect despite playing about 3 hours a day on average.

Yeah, I'm not too keen on the massive amounts of XP needed for some of the higher up professions. I'm trying to be a Droid Engineer, but I need 28.8k just to get Novice. I believe later I'll need 60k for some level. I've considered trying to make some guns and armor and selling them for cheap just so that I can HOPEFULLY get some people to use them so I can get a tiny little bit of extra xp, but it doesn't seem worth it. I just finished grinding a lot of ranged weapon powerups, fiber sheets and metal fasteners so that I could get some extra crafting XP. I need nearly 29k and I have just under 4k. This is going to take awhile.

As an aside, how much XP DO you get from people using your items? Is it per use or per wear?

Thanks

Well when i was making Weapon Power ups and giving them away, or giving to people in group who needed, i don't recall getting any.

btw thanks for your responses to this Thread!

I actually have a decent business making good ranged powerups and some of the simpler clothing. Once I was out harvesting hides and I had the tiny little skill progress window open, with Engineering III progress showing. As I was harvesting a hide I saw it bump up a notch and thought it was a bug--getting GC XP for harvesting, then I realized I was getting usage XP! It seems to be very very little, and I have a fair amount of people out there using my stuff, but it's still a nice little boost.

well, normally i craft good ole' fashioned power ups for the grind.. 10 total resources and 40xp gained = 4xp res...by payoff, its only payoff is Res.. Heavy axe works, but i have yet to find a good loc for a wood harvestor. butat 41 total resources and 80 xp.. rounding = 2xp/res. but double the xp so its about equal to Weapon power ups on cost in my book including the Harvest factor..

Bone armor is nice because its high xp payoff, but its a long crafting process' that uses harder to get resources. but at least you can sell these on the bazaar for a little extra cash. The way i look at it, I'll take a destroy mission, and from the creatures i kill i'll usually get enuff hide and bone for 2 - 3 items killing there and back. so it doubles to triples the price of the mission. But ...

None of these are too terribly quick. Unfortunately crafting Deeds for harvestors gives structure xp.. and a good amount too.. too bad it doesn't apply, otherwise i'd be popping them out like mad.

For heaven's sake, think twice about dumping product on the bazaar just to get UXP! I habitually scan the bazaar for this kind so stuff. If it's super cheap, I buy and destroy it (so you will get NO UXP), and if it's half price, I usually re-list it at the average price, so you just lost your price benefit and gave the money to me.

All the rich combat types are probably laughing their heads off at us poor crafters selling our products at 1cr per resource unit...

People call us artisans whiners, but I really think the crafting xp requirements are entirely too steep. The astronomical requirements motivate powerlevellers to churn out hundreds of items at a time just to level up quickly, leaving the market so flooded that demand is zero by the time casual gamers catch up.

Because I am unable to play 10-12 hours a dayas some powergamers can, I try not to worry about levelling up and just enjoy the roleplaying aspects of the game, but I can't help feel jealous when I'm working my butt off just to make Novice DE and I see people running around with mouse droids already.

between 2-3 I mainly made a lot of staffs.

wooden staffs give about 30exp and only needs one resource(wood)

reinforced staff gives about 90exp and is a bit more complex.

once you hit 3, start making fiberplast panels, bone armor segments and load up

on and many bones/hides as you can get your hands on, build extractors and also load up on Ore, Steel and Aluminum..

make bone armor all the way through Eng IV, it gives about 500exp each
