Thread: Question about Advanced Surveying Missions

My first post, wish me luck

I've found surveying missions to be significantly more profitable than delivery missions. I've been running surveying missions that pay from 1500-1800 credits. These missions involve searching for 60-70% concentrations for specific types of resources (e.g., non-ferrous metal, reactive gas, igneous ore, etc.).

Now, my friend on the same server tries to get surveying missions and only gets ones that pay up to 900 credits that involve searching for a much more general form of resource (e.g., gas, metal, etc.)

We are both master artisans. I am a novice weaponsmith and he is a novice architect. I can't seem to figure out why these higher-paying missions would be available to me and not to him.

If anyone could shed some light on this, I would be most appreciative.

Thanks in advance,

I would like to know the answer to this too. I have heard that there are more lucrative missions but I have only seen the 500-900 cr type for finding a general resource like gas or metal.

I've read that the survey mission level depends on your combat skill with the weapon you have equipped when you access the terminal. Most likely this isn't intented, they just left the code untouched from the regular mission terminals.

Does this match your experience? Maybe you are expert unarmed and your friend is a total combat novice or something?

You must equip a weapon that is at or above tier 4 in proficancy. It stinks that it is geared off of weapons and not survey but that's what is happening.

So equip your best weapon and advance to the highest proficany on it while looking for missions.

This could very well be it. I just spoke with him and he is only an expert with his weapon and I am a specialist.

Will try to remedy this tonight. Thanks so much for the help.

Any news about a fix to that?? I play full artisan no-combat whatsoever... I mean it's just a bug so it will be corrected eventually... So if any dev could give us an idea on a date... Thanks

It's definitely a weapon-eqipped difference. I'm a Pistol Specialist, and I get 1800cr missions with pistol equipped. Yes, it doesn't make much sense. It should be based on Survey skill level instead.

'I just spoke with him and he is only an expert with his weapon and I am a specialist.'

And there's (unfortunately) your answer. Being a weapon specialist and equipping at least a tier 3 weapon in the specialist line will yield you max 1800 missions, 900 for everyone else. Stinks for pure artisans, no?
