Thread: A suggestion for Crafting XP
Now you're probably waiting for a rant about this, but I truly do understand why this decision was made. I also feel, however, that this blanket policy hurts Artisans on the whole. As I climb into higher ranks in the Tailor profession, more and more of my xp depends on the use of my crafted items by others. Now, according to the rules set, if my schedule is odd (and it is), most of those using my objects are online when I am not. Backing up this conclusion is the fact that a good portion of my "Auction Ended" messages come in the middle of my offline time. Because of this, my xp moves slower than a Bounty Hunter caught in molasses in January. This, of course, got me thinking. User xp for crafting shouldn't be based on when the creator is online but when the user is online. However, I think this should have restrictions to keep novices from dumping a lot of goods on the market and then sitting back for a few days offline to come back to a huge pool of xp. I feel that Artisans should still need to log in for at least an hour or two in the same 24 hour period that their items are used. When they logout, they get a notice of user xp earned from their last logout until just that moment. This should give Artisans an incentive to play a decent amount of time and still allows them to earn the necessary xp for climbing in their profession.
As a last note, I'd like to forestall any outcries from those in other professions. Unlike crafters, the rest of the professions don't rely on people buying and using their end products in their own time and way. All other professions have xp based on using the skill set that comes with the profession. This is obviously a large difference and therefore says that Artisans are already the exception to a rule. Please consider this, as I feel it would solve a huge problem for the crafting community at large.

I definatly agree with you on that we need to be getting that xp offline. I however don't think that it should be forced that you have to be on every 24 hours though. Most items are one time UXP as far as i understand and i rarely get any UXP while i am on for long peroide of time. The causal player might not be on for days before he can get back so if forcing us to get on every 24 hours will hurt them.
so in short. GIVE US UXP 24/7!!! PLEASE!!!!

Absolutley - I'm 10+ GMT (Australia) - my usual play time is in the middle of the night local server time (the 4AM outages begin 8PM here), meaning I see next to no advancement due to sales of my items unless playing during the day (US afternoon/evening) on weekends.

Of course, I was told that the game designers decided that no character should gain xp while offline.
I gain loads of merchant XP while offline.
Yeah, I was about to say that. I get home from work and logon to find a bunch of merchant xp that I've done absolutely nothing to earn besides simply having a couple vendors in my home. I remember the first level I made as merchant I was walking away from a merchant trainer (because I was almost at novice merchant and wanted to know where it was) and the system message came up that I just made novice merchant so I made a U-turn and went back and got trained, lol.
You are supposed to get Usage XP while offline (as designed). Factory XP too (10%). We used to get it, now we don't.
It's a known bug.
