Thread: Artisans: why bother with Mind?
The default attribute arrangement for Artisans heavily favours the Mind pool, with Action coming in a relatively-close second and Health a distant third.
But here's the thing: Artisans use the Mind pool for surveying and sampling. Surveying doesn't take -that- many points, and a 400 or 500 in your Mind Regen (I forget which it is; Willpower?) will bring it back up quickly. Sampling uses even less.
What really drains you is the endless sampling in the lower artisan tiers, until you start placing harvesters, and that bites into your Action. Having a 1000+ Action pool is very useful for the sit-back-and-sample stuff we go through in the beginning.
So, since Artisans don't really have any commands per se, is Mind really the most important? Am I just missing some great hidden thing? If anything, it seems like an Action/Health split would be best (for when you're caught out tending harvesters), with Mind shoved wayyy in the back, sitting at 300 or 400.
I tried 2 artisans, I can't remember what the values for my first artisan's mind and willpower. However, the second artisan I made now has 1000 in mind and 1000 in action with high willpower, focus and stamina.
I'm planning on being a full time tradesman, so I have found out that going on a mining expidition, I can easily sample for 45-60 minutes without running out of mind.
Suits my playstyle fine, since I'm often times busy in real-life.
So my choice of going high mind and action has paid off. If I need to get anywhere dangerous I bring along escorts (other players).
