Thread: Questions for the Devs.
Please post your artisan related questions for the devs here.
If you rant or flame, they will not be seen. If you have a valid question, I will post it on the questions for the devs thread that TH is putting together on the Correspondent board.
I make no promises that they will be answered soon - but I can get them read by the 'red names'.
Try to keep them short and sweet (if not sweet, at least not too sour
)

1. Why are Droid Engineers dependant on Master Artisan components directly or indirectly (subcomponents of components) for at least 41 of the items in the Droid Engineering lines, but no other crafting profession even begins to approach this level of dependency?
2. Will there ever be a "balance pass" to either add this extraordinary level of dependency to other crafting professions or greatly reduce it for Droid Engineers?
Thanks
How are experimentation calculations intended to be handled if the schematic requires resources that never have a stat used for that experimentation category?
Example schematic: Required Resources: X ofresourceClass1, Y of resourceClass2 Experimental Widgetness: 50% statA, 50% statB
If no instance of resourceClass1 ever has statB, how does that resource affect Widgetness? Is statB taken 100% from resourceClass2, or does it use the same weighted sum calculation that appears to be used for items where the required resources all have the stat?
weighted statB = resourceClass1.statB * X/(X+Y) + resourceClass2.statB * Y/(X+Y)
A zero in that calculation would skew the maximum Widgetness that can be obtained, especiallyif X > Y.
And if that weighted sum method is not how the calculation is done, can you share the equation that is being used?
Oh, and BigBadButch's question should be passed on, too:
What is the intendedpurpose of a crafting tool's and station's "Effectiveness" stat? Better successes, fewer crit fails, larger experimental percentage increase for a given success type, a small compensation for bad materials, some of the above, all of the above, none of the above, something else? Most current testing seems to show little or no difference, but the random nature of crafting and experimenting may be hiding the Effectiveness's signal under all the noise.
The Background:
At Business II, I get the ability to purchase Premium Auctions, they cost 5 times the amount of a normal auction. In exchange for my skill points and credits i get a white asteriks next to my auction.
Someone with Zero skills and paying only 20% of the cost can put in an auction with a color name by useing the hex color code. This draws much more attention than my white asteriks. Also to add insult to my skill, thier auction is placed ahead of mine alphbetically due to the hex code being initated by a symbol.
So we end up with:
non-premium auction
* premium auction
If Premium Auctions were at the very least guarenteed a spot on the first page of a section, the skill and price would be worth it. Instead I find my premium auction on the fourth page, never to be seen again.
The Question:
* Can we expect an improvment to the Premium Auctions, or a change of the Business II block?
the devs mentioned that they were planning on implementing a way for crafters to get holocrons (or at least considering it).
is this still the plan?
if yes, is it in place yet?
if not, then when?
what is it?/how will it work?
