Thread: So how does an artisan make money?
I'm hoping to eventually work my way through the weapon and armorsmith trees.
But in the meantime I've all but mastered the artisan tree. But I find it nearly impossible to make money in any quantities aside from doing missions (which I detest) andwhich draws me away from working on my skills.
I make a little money from making personal extractors off the bazaar, but every credit of it goes to pay for maintenance for my own extractors.
So how does an Artisan make money? Are there items besides personal extractors that are in high demand?
Weapon power-up, CDEF weapons buffed to the max, harvesters, heavy Axe, reinforced combat staff, bone armor, and more.
I have trouble keeping everything on the bazaar because of the 25 limit. I am waiting for a house to become available so I can set up a vendor.
I still do missions because I am working toward a combat profession since there will always be a time where I must fight my way through the wilderness and the advanced planets may be a probelm with no combat ability.

selling resources
I would do this also. Its definetly not off Bird Cages lol.
Thanks alot guys. Are the weapon powerups only available to be made by artisans or can weaponsmith's make them too?
I hadn't thought about the master artisan items being highly sought after, but it makes sense since the dabblers wouldn't be flooding the market with them.
Besides weapon power up is not bad, but bot as profitable as those 2. Fishing pole can sell high as well if the quality is really good.
Never try to make money by selling harvester. Takes too many resources, and too many ppl are selling them.
Anything consumable
So powerups, and possibly food as well (for buffs if they give any of just as pet food) and I seem to sell alot of harvesters as well (although I wouldnt really class them as a consumably but there you go....)
Just find the best material you can to make them out of
Once you hit master you can sell the master components to elite crafting professions who were foolish enough not to also take MA
unfortunately pretty much all (if not all) of the master schematics are have no stand alone use/value
I've just started on Artisan skills (I got tired of combat grinding) and I don't own any extractors. I simply buy resources from other players and manufacture items from that. It might be worth weighing up the pros and cons of extracting your own resources. Or, as has been said, sell the resources to people like me!
One of the best lines I've found is rifles (or carbines.) I can only manufacture CDEF ones, but I always use the best resources I can get and I've been selling them for 600+ credits. And they've been selling.
The reason? Riflemen and Carbineers need to get their weapons from somewhere. And before you flame me, there's plenty of choice on my server and there are always rifles for sale, so if people want to pay 120c for a 83/700 rifle, they can. Or they can buy one of my higher quality ones.

The big concern I (still) have about the Artisan is that it's basically just a stepping-stone profession. Few of those who earnMaster Artisan keep it, and most don't even master it--they just take the Engineering discipline (and possibly one or two others) to get to Weaponsmith or Armorsmith.
I contend that the components the Master Artisan can make ought to be:
- requiredto craftmost advanced items (droids, harvesters, vehicles), and
- unmakeable by factories
These rules would reflect the degree of sophistication in making components that only a Master Artisan possesses, and would give appropriate value to those components (and thus to the Master Artisan skill). In this way the Artisan profession would be something worth knowing in its own right, and not just a reason to grind out bone chestplates.
