you put skill tapes in them. Give bonuses.

Skill tapes hard to come by.

Was curious if there was anyting that you can do when you craft an item that says it has 3 or 4 sockets available. I would imagine they serve some purpose, but for the life of me I can't figure it out. I'm sort of feeling my way thru the artisan profession and the help thing for this game really isnt all that helpful IMO.

I hope you guys dont mind, i'd like to continue this thread by asking the following...

1) What are skill tapes and what bonuses can they hold ?

2) Whats the main way players have recieved these tapes ?

Skill tapes are increasingly rare loot drops that can improve most of the stats in the game(not health action or mind, but things like melee defense and such). They look like small rolls of tape more or less.

thanks for the info...so in theory they can be dropped by any NPC ?

Back in the day(ha) before they were rare I got them off of Jabba thugs and other such lower "level" type NPC's.

each slot can hold one tape, can never be removed (AFAIK), and is put there by dragging the tape onto the item with the slot.

tapes go into clothing only
armor "panel" (look like a panel and not role of tape) go into armor only (I think in the crafting process only)

There are semi frequent auctions for them (at least on the Sunrunner forums) seems like going price is 50k-100k

ok, sounds like worrying about making an item with multiple slots is pretty much a waste of time if it's not likely that you will have something to put into them. Thanks for the info.
