Thread: Idea about resource distribution and rare spawns.
Since this will be about resources, I'll be putting this in the Artisan forum, as it isn't specific to any profession. (Heck, it concerns medics and Chefs, too).
The main complaint I've heard from crafters is "We finally got this rare resource to spawn...but it's OQ 2."
On some servers, "named" resources have never spawned with a decent quality. I was thinking maybe the crafting rules coumd be relaxed: in essence, that using a good "non-named" resource would be better than using "named" resources. That way you can use any iron for a plumbum iron slot, the caveat being...you'll get a cap on the efficiency, so that good quality plumbum iron is still sought after.
Other way to do this: cap the resources stats depending on their "named" status or not. You can find plenty of lousy quality iron but finding good ones will be tougher.
The benefit is it allows people to craft most of their goods most of the time, even if quality doesn't follow all the time. But people deserve to get medium quality gear even if a given resource won't spawn for months. A profession could be crippled by a specific resource missing, think "all the T21s will suck for two months".
