Bad idea, what happens to people that support that idea is this:

*clicks button once*

*clicks button again*

*slowly walks over to the spot with the best resources in the Galaxy, notices EVERYONE on the Galaxyhas placed his/her harvester there already*

*walks over to the bazaar terminal, sees that the best of the best resources are offered by everyone in such large quantities that the prices asked for them are below the price to mine them up (see architect forums)*

*starts whining on the SWG forums*

I agree that the idea over massive surveying of planets is a bad idea. However, I would greatly like the idea of sending probes to different planets to see what resources are available. Right now, I'm doing this manually and it eats up 70% of my game time, another 20% is spent with customers, this only leaves me with about 10% to be working on other things, like increasing my medic skills. I think the probes would be a good way to go. I'd go through about 9 of these a day and would allow me hours more time to do other things.
Also, I know the idea of managing harvestors remotely has been around for a while and I think it's a good idea. It could serve as another money sink.

No. Mining is already too easy as it is. If you don't like the time it takes to mine, then don't. Buy off of someone who does want to take the time to do it. Don't cry that they need to make mining easier, I'm already sick of seeing BH's and TKA's mining and selling resources. Mining is just fine without any 'mining droids' or datapad maintenance tool.

I agree that a droid that would tell you the type of resources for one category of mineral (Ferrous Metal, Radioactives, Solid Petrochem) one category of Flora, or the entire category of chemical, power, or gas available on a planet.

However it shouldn't be as good as going to visit that planet. So no getting resource stats, and no remote harvesting.

Harvester management (i.e. knowing what its status is and remotely setting the admin list) is good, but can go too far (I disagree with changing resource remotely, extracting, or paying maint remotely).

My harvesters stay put in one spot. I will only move them in the same area if i can get a significantly better concentration. All my harvesters are together and it is easy to check on them. It leaves me with lots of time to play. There are people who rush around every weekor so trying to find the best concentration of the best resources. Let them. To them the time and effort is paid off with the prices they get. I am happy slowly increasing my wealth every week.

having information about each structure would be usefull, I tend to spend alot of time running from harvestor to harvestor, and not actully doing anything. they would of course have to fix the odd problem with the power where you have to turn the harvestor on and off to make it report correctly.
