Thread: what is ferrous and non ferrous

Alright this is a question that I should know but got into an argument about which resources are ferrous and non ferrous. I was under the impression steel was and ores were not but if someone would please correct me and maybe provide a short list I would appreciate it.

Ferrous metals are iron based. So steel, iron, and the "unknown" ferrous metals.
Copper and aluminum are the non-ferrous metals.
Ore is not a metal yet so it doesn't count. Hope this helps.
