Thread: Sorry to complain
Hey all,
I'm sorry to complain, and I'm sure the issue has been brought up before, but has anyone had a sudden surge of people coming up to them in-game asking how to quickly grind to master artisan? Yesterday, I had about 5, and when I asked them why they wanted to (out of personal curiosity) they responded that they wanted master in time for the vehicles release. Maybe it's just me, but it seems an aweful lot of people are jumping on the band wagon in hopes of making a fast buck when they are first released. I mean, I go into the starport in Corvett (sp?) on Corellia and I will see about 6 master artisans standing there waiting for the shuttle when about a month ago I'd see about one a week.
Also, from a business stand point, isn't having all these new master artisans out there just going to drive the cost of vehicles down as people flood the market with them trying to undercut everyone else?
Sorry to complain, and I'm sure people will dissagree with me, but it's been bugging me lately...
I have noticed this as well. I can't say too much because I was a Master Artisan that dropped everything except Novice, so I could take up Combat Medic. I noticed that I needed to survey more than I need my Combat Medic skills so I started back up the Survey branch. That's when I learned about vehicles so I decided to drop Combat Medic and take up Master Artisan again. So you could say I'm one of the guilty people, but I've been planning on starting up my Medical Resource business again anyway.

FWIW, a similar thing happened with the BH profession. Before the xp gains per mission were tripled there would be maybe two or three BH's running missions from Kaadara at any given moment. Go there now and there are almost four times as many.
Personally, I think it's a good thing. I had no desire to take up crafting before not because I didn't find it fun, but because to make any kind of living at it you pretty much have to master an elite crafting profession. I'm having a blast with my artisan toon, and dipping into crafting enough to make vehicles has had me doing some things I never came close to with my bounty hunter. It's opened up another part of the game to casual players and to me there's nothing wrong with that.
Also rember that this is just a preview. There will at some point be a true elite vehicle profession, and then these 3 vehicles will be like CDEF weapons. Yes you can make real nice ones (36-61 3.6carbine for example) but no one wants them. Most of the people jumping on the band wagon right now will not follow into the elite profession once it is available, it will require too many skill points and time. Right now a master weaponsmith probably only has to pick up master, he'll have the engineering to get to WS, he'll have the tailor/food for the colors,he'll have the marketing for his vendor, and most likely survey so he doesn't have to buy resources. "Hmmmm....If I spend on skill point on master then I can make vehicles!" But I doubt that he'll drop Master WS to make vehicles.
And yes I've jumped on the wagon too, but I've always wanted to make vehicles, and now that they are actually seing the light of day I'm back to crafting. And I'll gladly drop any of my other skills to build a tie fighter!
