I think you will get all of the info you would normally see on a survey tool on the planet you specify before you launch the droid.

The info you get would be if you took a shuttle to a planet and opened the survey tool and look at the list. You get one shot and the droid takes your survey tool with it, so if you wanted to see mineral and chemical you would have to send out 2 droids. You don't get any stats or any WPs.

Not a bad droid, but very limited in its applications and it takes anywhere from 30mins to an hour to get the results back.

You buy a survey droid from a DE, it has a certain number of charges (10-12 from what I've seen offered). When you use a charge, you get a window up prompting for the planet you want to survey. You then get another window to select a survey tool to determine what type of resources (gas, chemical, mineral, flora) you get back in the report. The survey tool is consumed by the droid, and it must be in your main inventory (ones in your backpack are not listed).

After a period of time (determined by the efficiency of the droid, generally 40-50m) you get back an email listing all the resources of the tool'stype on the planet you sent the droid to. You get back basically the same tree you see when opening a survey tool (type -> subtype -> Name), and no stats.

I've been using them to check whether a resource on Yavin is still spawning (meaning my harvesters are still extracting). I spent 25k for a crate with 55 total uses,so sending off a droidis a lot cheaper than making the round trip just to see that yes, my harvesters are still running.

they arelimited use (stupid idea) disposable droids (another stupid idea). sort of like the bounty hunter droids. You basically tell them a planet and send them off. In 30 minutes or so, you will get an e-mail telling you what resources are available on the planet you sent it to.

NOTE! all you get is the name! no percentages of concentration and no stat attributes! This is the same information you would get if you took the shuttle there and opened your survey tool.

In my opinion, these things are useless. They would be worth something if they gave you some numbers on the resources. A better way is to alt+tab to your browser and log into SWGcraft.com, select all planets and look for what you want. SWGcraft.com is usually no more than a couple hours behind spawns, and it's invaluable as a time saver.

Maybe they should program the survey droids to log into swgcraft current resources page and e-mail that info to you. LOL!

if you dont get any wp what is the application? do they just let you know whats avalable on a peticular planet? then you have to schlep around surveying like normal?

if you are after a particular resource, why goto each planet searching?

why not just send a few droids to ..

it is not designed to replace the surveying itself, just to aid you in your quest for resources..

Do the droids take up a droid slot on the datapad?

If not, then they would be a *huge* time-saver. Especially if you are the kind of person that does not think that being a couple hours (or days, in the case of yavin, endor, and dathomir) behind is acceptable. Using the droids is much cheaper than using the shuttle, and unless a particular planet is the only one with a particular resource, you can just drop a personal harvester on any planet that has the resource and wait a couple minutes to find out what the stats are.

Not everyone is into resource gathering. Personally, I am. I think of it as a scavenger hunt, and there is nothing like comming back on day two of a shift and finding a bunch of other harvesters clustered around mine, which are sittin on the 92% (not 91, not 89.... 92) dep of thebest class 4 LPCF (or whatever other specialized resource) to ever spawn on the server.

Besides if it gave you a waypoint with the higher concentration youd still by whining that it doesnt drop a harvey for you) disposable droids (another stupid idea) (this is an even better idea that the limited use, it dont take up a slot in the datapad, and it keeps you coming back to me). sort of like the bounty hunter droids. Another application of these droids is to check for shifts. Taking the shuttle to Dantooine just to find that the resource has not shifted yet is a big waste of my time. If i send a droid to do it it works out much better, then if the droid comes back an there has been a shift then its off i go.

No. They're like the BH tracker droids: they sit in your inventory until you "use" them, a charge gets deducted, and 30-45m later you get your report. It never goes to your datapad (so you can use these even if you've hit the max number of droids trained). You can also buy them by the crate, I picked up a 5 droid crate, each one with 11 uses for 25k. I'm not sure if the crates always come out that size, or if the DE just split up a 25 crate.
