then whats the point of the fusion ion generators?

Because radioactive is the best power source, they have a higher max BER than heavy minerals, and they require no power to operate.

Also the higher the PE (potential energy) the longer it will last.

To clarify some and to sum it all up:

The ratios are (in basic format - I don't have the exact formula handy) for any power (wind, solar, radioactive):

Potential Energy: 1-500 1:1 (one unit power for 1 unit of resource)

Potential Energy = 750 1.5:1(1.5 units of power for 1 unit of resource)

Potential Energy = 1000 2:1 (2 units of power for 1 unit of resource)

Potential Energies of 501-999 vary from 1.0001:1 to 1.9999:1 with 750 being the midpoint at 1.5:1.You can see the trend there. The higher the Potential Energy, the more use you will get out of it. At 1000k PE, you'll get 200k units of power outof only 100k resource.That reduces your work digging up power tremendously.

So when you use a high-quality Fusion Ion reactor which has Medium Harv maintenance, and 14BER (highest for Mineral is 13), you make your power go alot farther for alot less. You pull it in faster, for less maintenance, and don't burn the power you're pulling up to keep the Fusion going allowing more for use and selling.
