it's a combination of stupidity and wanting to get their guns out in combat... people don't realize you can do that and get profit at the same time

People sell stuff at cost or give it away because there's a glut of low-level stuff for sale right now, and on some servers, you can't earn much for stuff based on basic designs. People still need to earn XPs, so they practically give their stuff away. This isn't the case on all servers and planets. I have been able to sell basic CDEF weapons for 100-200 credits where I play.
Unfortunately, most novice artisans still have to supplement their income with messenger missions.

Maybe I just haven't sold enough crap at a loss, but my usage XP is such a tiny trickle that it's not worth worrying about, compared to the XP I can get by going out and dredging up some more minerals, cranking out items and destroying them.
I don't like doing that at all, but the economy doesn't currently support making a fair living where I am.

Why are people doing instant auctions for 20cr or less? Considering they're mostly selling newbie crap, I assume they're not enjoying merchant discounts. Is there some good reason to do this, or are they intentionally screwing up the market, or are they just stupid?
