Everyone hates grinding (well, most sane people at least), but no one's quite sure what to do about it. I think the solution lies in adding a hell of a lot more crafting missions to the game. Just simple talk to man at Point A, get special temporary schematic, survey for the materials needed, produce final product, and deliver to Point Bwould be great, as long as it produced GCXP at least almost equal to powercrafting Bofa Treats or whatever the new craze is.

This would eliminate the create and destroy repetition that so many are complaining about right now and give people a valid RP way to do things. Either that, or here's another one that could give GCXP and merchant XP. There could be special kinds of delivery missions that involve filling an order for someone. For example, Bob in Mos Eisley has placed an order for thirty bofa treats, a reinforced combat staff, and a bone armor helmet (adjusted for skill levels). We need you to fill it. The money paid is enough to cover the minerals at fair market value and a little extra, plus you get GCXP along the way and perhaps Merchant XP as well.

Have you found a crafting mission yet?

If so where? I have been searching high and low and yet to find one.

I assume like the survey missions there is only one NPC that gives them out per city, at least I have only found one so far that gives out survey missions. Or do I have to go to another city to find one?

I haven't tried talking to NPCs in town, but the ones outside of town -- rebels, imperials, Royal Security Forces, philosophers, gunguns, etc -- almost always offer me crafting or survey missions.

I turn down crafting missions because they offer zero experience and they're much less cost/benefit effective than straight delivery missions. I hope they have plans to improve these because currently they're a waste of database space.

I'll be turning down survey missions until theyfix the apparent bugs in the system. I say "apparent" because they won't tell us how the system is supposed to work, and therefore we have no way of knowing if it is working as designed. Ironically, they were more functional when they were "broken".

So essentially the mission system as it stands is sort of a sad joke for crafters, with no acknowledgement from the developers that problems exist beyond terse snippits in the patch notes that break more than they repair.
