yes, im a noob but i thought SWG would be the ultimate game that all console versions failed to bring us. That my 2.4ghz amd/9800 radeon/1g of ram was so i could buzz my stormtrooper buddies on the ground with my tiefighter while a squadron of mine takes mos eisley in a heated battle (a la planetside but with a SW skin).

ok, so its not. im not flaming, i'll play nice...

so i pick artisan, cause i wanna be a droid engineer.

and i start digging. and digging. for a whole day i dig.
i get into it...pretty cool. then i build a weapon and try to sell it at the bazaar. where i see 100 other weapons on the market 5 days for 30 credits and its obvious i'll never sell my little blaster that took me a day to make not even for 30 lousy credits. I've already spent that much at the cantina for a lap dance.

so whats the point? am i missing something? from what i see, the game really doesn't have the engine to be a real good FPS, (i see a few marksmen killing rills with their "double click combat que blaster") and its clear that SWG is obviously about RPG, but the engine isn't there yet either, or its bugged...am i missing something?

can someone help me with these few pointers?
1. what is the inside trick to selling stuff u've made,
are you selling in the street? is it necessary to sell?
2. how can i get more schematics? they don't sell them.
3. how come i can't find any survey missions anywhere?
4. will there ever be darkside clans using TS and bringing in 3 or more stormtroopers to shake up some poor tatooine farmer and his wife at 3am? JUST FOR KICKS!
4. how are you guys learing all about this when the manual is clearly insufficient (like "grinding"=making stuff and destroying it? for xp)

ps. my stuff is labled ADR (ex. ADR-67 blaster) and i only use the finest resources.

thanks in advance.

Yes, there are 100+ CDEF weapons on the bazaar for 30 credits, but last night I sold 20 of them for 500 credits each. Its all in the materials you use (hint, you're going to have to experiment, even go off planet for the best), and the experimentation (never put anything on the bazaar that you just ground out without experimenting on it).

Your description of taking Mos Eisley with your stormtrooper buddies sounds exciting, but I don't know where in the world you would have ever gotten the impression that SWG was anything like that.

1. The best trick I've found is to sell something that nobody else is selling. If there are 5000 listings for CDEFs and none for simple shirts, well, make shirts.

2. You get new schematics as you advance and train in the artisan disciplines.

3. For survey missions, try the miner NPC in the artisan guild hall or random NPCs outside of town and beyond the newbie zone.

4. If the farmer is overt rebel, knock yourself out.

5. Some of us are Betazoids.

cool. thanks. you have given me some hope about selling.

I just imagined that while living the life of a simple droid engineer, digging away, i would witness a group of players (not NPC's) in ST armor coming for a "hans solo" type in the center of town...there'd be some blasting....a little post battle gossip...and we'd all go back to our lives... you'd be able to pick what you wanted to be...a simple farmer that eventually became a General Tagge type commanding ST's...seems like you can only be a simple farmer....its a bit on the everquest-y side...which i cancelled btw.

thanks for the tips guys.

one more question.

do Artisans group up for protection to go way out of town to survey?

You know, in all of the role-playing games I've ever seen, I don't think I've ever seen resource gatherers group up to go after ore, timber, gems or whatever.

It might make sense in an instant-death environment like Endor or Dathomir, but not for the standard planets.

Oh and make sure you name your items appropriately. A gun labelled "29-59 CDEF Carbine" sells faster than "CDEF Carbine"
