Thread: Critical events when sampling have been increased in frequency. Huh?

What exactly is meant by this??

Is it just "Particularly Rich Vein..." and "You fail to to..."

Or does this mean that Vader is going to walk up behind me and slice me up with the lightsaber?

Yeah I'm just as confused by this. Does it even mean anything? I wonder if it means we'll fail more often.

I've been sampling the past hour or so and I haven't noticed any significant increase in failures. Maybe it's just jargon to scare us into setting up harvesters or buying resources from other people

I got my first 11 unit sample yield today off a particularly rich vein. Just one of course. I tell ya, that critical even still has me walking on air... gotta go get back to sampling now... can't stand missing the excitement! /sarcasm

I think a lot of people are confused by this because of the poor choice of terms they chose. In sampling, a "critical event" means something extraordinary happened, but it isn't necessarily bad. People always assume "critical" means bad, so this was a bad word choice.

Anyway, I guess we'll see what other events there are, but unless they've thought of something worse than not getting anything, like "You fumble and drop your sampling tool and break it" or "You dropped 10 resources and they rolled away and you can't find them" then I expect the new criticals to either be good, or be something not too bad like "you only find half as many samples as you'd expect"

I was sampling two feet from the city walls of Theed on Naboo and had two red con encounters in under a minute--seemingly out of nowhere. I escaped from one and was killed by the other. Since I had been mining in this area since Launch Day without any problem, I translated this as "an increase in critical events when samplings". I hope I'm wrong, but it doesn't look good for Artisans if I'm not.

what I took it to mean was, you won't be able to get the resource you need, even when you have a 95% on the survey screen with level IV survey...refer to the "89%: 'Not a high enough density to sample'" thread. Everyone seems to be havin the same issues.

That particular problem only occurs when a resource first becomes available. Give it 6 hours and try again. Yes, it's annoying, but that is how it works.
