Thread: Starting Artisan, need advice
Should I just keep making traps which is how I earned my first 1000 points of crafting, and use easy to get bone and hide, or switch over to something like powerups which require harder to get metal and mineral?
I appreciate any advice. Again, I'm not looking to corner the market, just want to get xp to complete engineering and business.
Hey Zzax,
At Eng 1 you can build muzzles. Those give 40xp GCXP a pop require 6metal 4lubrication (petroleum). I used it to get mostly all the way to weaponsmith. And if you keep building them, experiment on some and you might come out with some decent powerups. I sold a few of those in fact.
hope this helps you out.
Weapon powerups are usually recommended because they give 40 GCXP (generic crafting experience) for only 10 resources used, or 4 gcxp per resource. You could continue to build traps as they give the same rate of return. A sharp spur trap gives 32 gcxp for 8 resources which is still good and a mesh trap gives 25 gcxp for 6 resources used. The mesh trap only has 2 resource slots to be filled so it is slightly less mouse work to build one that a sharp spur which has 3 slots to be filled.
I alternate between sampling/powerups and hunting/traps just to break up the monotony. Blasting bunnies (for bones) and butterflies (for hide) makes a change from kneeling in the desert looking for lumps of steel and chemicals.
I may have the trap names slightly wrong but you should be able to figure out which ones I was referring to.
