I was wondering at what point it allows you to start experimenting i have only the 4th levels minus surveying to go and still no experimenting just wondering thanks.

you have to be at a crafting term

You need to be near Public Crafting station and use your special crafting tool, not just the generic one. (actually i dunno, maybe you can use the generic one too).

To "Experiment" on an Item... Say a Rifle...

You need to use the Weapon & Generic Crafting Tool.. ( the template is in the GCT ) and be near one of the Weapons, Driod.. and Whatever... Crafting stations... then you will get the option to Experiment.
