Ok, I haven't used a factory yet, but I will eventually, and this is what I'm wondering about.

Say I want to ultimately have a factory that turns out small houses. I don't, but let's say I did, since they are simple and require crafted components like many other items (droids, guns, medicine, etc.). I only use houses because I know what they use.

First I have to make a structural module schematic, so I build one, experiment it up, and make a blueprint.

Then I take that to my structure factory and stick it in there with 20000 ore and 5000 metalto make 100 modules (because that's the most I can make on one blueprint).

Now I need to make a blueprint for the house deed, so I take 10 of my modules from the factory box and some ore and stuff and I make a small house. I experiment it up, but get a poor result. I end up making the house and selling it for cheap so I can try again for a better result. I don't want all my houses to suck, after all.

This time, I take 10 more modules, some other stuff, and get a good result. So I turn that into a schematic. Now I have 80 modules left from the first run. I stick them into the factory along with the schematic for the house and blammo, I get a grand total of 8 houses out. Woohoo. But that house schematic is good for 100.

So here's my question: since I made the house schematic using the modules from the first schematic I made for them, can I only use the house schematic with modules from that first run? Is my house blueprint basically done after only 8 units because the original structure module deed could only make 100, and I can only use the exact ones I made from that first experimented blueprint?

---

I realize it's strange to use houses as an example. It's more likely a problem in medicine. Level C packs use crafted components. But if I can never make more than 100 identical components from a schematic, then I will never be able to make more of the complexitems from a schematic (made using that specific item) than I can make using only the 100 components that came from that run.

Does that make sense, or am I just confusing you?

Click on ingredients required button. That will tell you exactly what you need for each house. It requires the exact resource type/sub-type that you used to make the schematic. The other components like structural mod can be made from hand or from factory using any different kind of resource. All that matters is that the components be that of that type.

Ahhh.. so if I make a schematic for a house using 5 structural modules I made using aluminum and siliclastic ore and 5 struct mods made with steel and carbonate ore, then the schematic for the house won't care if I load up my factory with all struct mods made from copper and carbonate ore?
