Well its not that good per say but its used in making most of the higher lvl furniture like beds and such so Im sure you could make good cash off of it. I sold my 250 units for 1,250credits the other day

I sold 2k wooly hide for 3000 credits on the bazaar, but I probably could have split it and made double the money.

As for wooly hide on Tatooine, isn't it a desert planet? What kind of stupid animal evolves a wooly hide in that heat? Stupid banthas...

Yes, Tat's a desert, but it has a strong ecology.

The planet also has at least three major permanentoases in the explored zone alone.

When Bantha's find water they wallow in it and soak. Their extremely thick, dense hide soaks water. A single Bantha can then walk out of the water and their body is soaked with literally thousands of liters of water. The hide is wooly and tight, but the individual hairs are actually hollow. After soaking, very little water drips off the Bantha. It evaporates very slowly. The Banthas don't need water to survive, but they seem to enjoy staying as cool as possible.

In the summer, the Bantha can then go for over a month while the slow evaporate effect deflects the heat from the sun and helps dispel their own body heat. But Banthas tend to stay in the shade and sleep during the day.

During the winter, the Bantha keeps its hide dry. The winter days aren't as scorching as the summer, and the winter nights can drop to zero degrees.Regardless of the season, Banthas do as little as possible during the day. They graze, mate, migrate, and fight when the suns go down.

Even without being soaked, the unique thermal properties of their fur also keep them cool or warm. Since the hair is hollow it doesn't transmit heat very well. Even if the suns are hot, their energyis slow to penetrate through the fur to their body. On cold winter nights, the creature's body warmth stays under the fur.

Just some things I've noticed while scouting all over the desert planet and having spent lots of times with banthas, following them, and harvesting their hides.

Does it have to be on Tatooine? If you want to really stock up on Wooly Hides from low level mobs, come to Talus (or Corellia) and do paralope missions. I get 8-10 hides per paralope and they are sooooooo easy to kill.

If you want something harder, go to Dantooine and kill huurtons.

That whole planet is messed up. Banthas with their hides...rontos with their long necks...

And I really don't see how it's a desert if there's so much wildlife out there. How does the planet support them?

Currently, the best Wooly Hide ever seen on Bria is on Tatooine right now. MA 892, OC 931. So, I'm trying to get as much of it as I can before it disappears. I currently have about 1.5k. My question is, are Bantha's the only creatures on Tatooine that drop Wooly Hide?

I think so, but I wouldn't swear to it. However, they're probably the best bang for the buck in terms of time and effort vs amount of hide you get. I've always had to pay people to get my wooly hide for me, because I can barely take on rills with my artisan/armorsmith/merchant character.
