Sorry for the dumass noob question, but I am not able to sample anything, I can survey and find resources, then when I go to sample it says I cant. Do I need a sampling tool or something to that effect? Also, does the effectivness of my tool ( lol ) have any effect on how high of concentrations I can find? Thanx a million.

as long as you have novice artisan you should be able to sample. im not sure if one can survey without artisan skills. tool effectiveness has no bearing on the %'s you can find, or so i'm told. hope this helps.
oh yea you need sufficient HAM stats to mine as sampling brings these down.

you have to be on a good % deposit of the resource. when you start i think its something like 30% and over before you can get a sample
i know that i can (having surveying level 4) sample resources 15% and a little lower i think, cant remember now.
i was recently reminded of this when i created a new character on infinity that cant even sample on a 25% deposit.
just keep following the way points to a higher deposit (if there is one).

There is also a bug where new recources can't be sampled at all no matter what % you are on, however this is usually fixed by the next day after the server reset. So if you can't sample one resource try one that you know has been around for a few days.

Its the %'s, thanx guys, the highest I coiuld find was 28%. Again, many thanx.
