Thread: Results from repairing 100 weapons

OK, I just made a new repair outfit and wanted to test it out. I know there is already concern about repairing not working right and thought I would post the results from 100 weapons I repaired. I am not sure what the "Functionality Rating" on the repair tool or what the "Weapon Repair" bonus does....



I am posting this incase anybody is interested or wants to use this info combined with theirs to further indicate the true state of the current repair system. Next I am going to repair 100 weapons without the +27 clothes to see what they really do, if anything at all... I'll post those results as well. After that I am on to armor and clothing. I have a bonus of +24 for both of those...



I was using a repair outfit with a Weaopn Repair Bonus of +27 (capped at +25) and the tools were 98.9% and 95.3%



Here were the results:


17% failure rate
83% success rate


36% Minor Blemish (best repair)
36% Repair (second best repair)
11% Marginally Repaired
17% Completely Failed Repair



Minor Blemish Repair = 94.9% of original condition
Repaired ========== 80.0% of original condition
Marginally Repaired == 66.0% of original condition

Very nice work. I particularly commend you for the work it must have taken to get 100 used weapons just to repair them for this test.

OK, I just finished repairing 100 weapons without the Weapon Repair +27 Bonus clothes on. By looking at these numbers compared to the first set I posted, they are virtually identical. This tells me the Weapon Repair Bonus does absolutely nothing in regards to repairing weapons. Please note - I am not a Weaponsmith. Although I don't think a Weaponsmith gets any additional bonus for repairing weapons, some people think they do...


Here were the results:

18% failure rate
82% success rate
32% Minor Blemish (best repair)
32% Repair (second best repair)
18% Marginally Repaired
18% Completely Failed Repair

Minor Blemish Repair = 94.9% of original condition
Repaired ========== 80.0% of original condition
Marginally Repaired == 66.0% of original condition

I hope this can be of use to others. I have decided not to waste my time testing armor and clothes. Chances are, the results will be the same and repairing these 200 weapons was a real tedious chore.

I have not compiled statistics on repairs, but I know that my crit fail rate is a hell of a lot lower than 18%, probably morelike 5%.

If you can find a weaponsmith you trust with your clothing, I'd be interested in the results of the same test done by a Master Weaponsmith. I know that as a Master Armorsmith I have an Armor Repair skill mod, but others who aren't have reported that they don't have one. So the skill mod from clothing may not apply if you don't have at least a few points in that skill mod already.

Already posted this once before - I had a couple of weapons Improve on repair and I cannot see how this could have happened. One went up 5 Max and another 8.


Wish I knew what I did - great trick if repeatable.

Weapons lose damage if they go below 20-25% condition. Sometimes they recover a little when repaired but none of the ones I've done have gone back to their original stats, even on a minor blemishes repair.

I have tested the tools with a master weaponsmith, armorsmith, and tailor.. all using top of the line tools (99.99999%, had 1000 conductivity copper to work with) and I found that their chances to repair stuff was the same as mine.. I don't have the numbers.. after I went over the numbers I'd recorded I was just a lil bit upset with it and threw them away.. *laugh* at any rate, as it currently sits, joe schmoe newbie just created has the same chance at item repair as does someone that is a master armorsmith/weaponsmith/tailor, and the repair skill tapes do jack and nothing. in my tests tho, I didn't do 100 items, only 50, but I think that still gave me accurate data.

One thing a friend of mine recently discovered as a doc wearing skill mod clothing. If she did not open her skill tree after putting on the skill mod clothes, the bonus was not applied. She noticed an overall improvement in her buffs once she used Ctrl-S any time she changed outfits to start buffing. The reason she noticed this in the first place was she happened to hit Ctrl-S and catch with her eye that her doc skill mods in the left hand column changed (to reflect the amount modified by her clothes) upon bringing the skill page up. The same thing is most likely true for other mod tapes and clothes.
