You know, there are no message boards to really address the devs directly.. maybe the correspondent can see this and pass it on.

Is there any way that we can have repair failure rates checked at least? I know that crafting crit fail rates were looked at, so why not repair rates.

Thank you for your time.

Hi, master armorsmith, master artisan here. Armor repairs fail often even when I use my 99.8% tools, standing at (in) my crafting station in my shop. The "best" thought from the armorsmith forums seems to be, wait until the item is between 30% and 40% condition. Even then it will fail far too often. We armorsmiths don't like this any more than the fighters do, believe me.

I now only attempt repairs for PA members, or repeat clients with whom there is some trust. And I state 3 times, there is a high chance it'll fail, are you SURE you want me to try the repair. Then I make them replacement items at a reduced rate if at all possible.

We hates this, precious, yes we does...but no word if/when this will be looked into.

kewl thanks for the info. but as i asked above. is there anyone else that should be doing this other than a armorsmith that will increase the chances of success? like a slicer? there is no stat for this on my guy so i was just wondering if i should send clients to someone else?

There is no class skill for armor repair, period. Nobody has any bonuses, armor repair just sucks.

Nope, can't have it looked into. Everyone hates when a repair goes bad. Best you can do is clear up the misconceptions for people.

I tell them "No, I will not repair your *insert item name here* for you. I will, however, make you a repair kit, and give it to you."

They often reply "But I want someone with skill to do it."

I then tell them "There is no such thing as repair skill. Skill makes absolutely no difference when repairing. What makes a difference is the quality of the repair tool. Here. Here are some 99.7% tools. You'll have to roll the dice like everyone else, if you wantyour thingrepaired. I don't replace anything that falls apart, though, so think long and hard before you click."

I usually recieve thanks, and they take the free tools, and go on their way. Yes, free tools. They take so few resources to make, I usually don't bother charging for them. Only thing is, if they catch me in the middle of nowhere, they may have to follow me to my house to get them, and I can't always be bothered to go back to my house when someone else wants me to...

And it's not just armor. I have the same problem when I try to repair clothes. There was a rumor that a Master had a better chance at repairing items, but I don't believe it.
It's kind of silly we can make these things but we have no clue how to fix them.

Actually, I'm a Master Armorsmith, and I do have an Armor Repair mod. I don't know if it actually *affects* anything, but it is there.

I've repaired over 100 items so far and I am only a master Artisan. I hav only failed on 7 items, and they were when I used a crappy 80% tool when I was just starting or only have a few hundred points out of a few thousand points of condition left.
