Its not clear from your post what you need to know. Armor Upgrade Kits afaik are used by smugglers to slice armor and have nothing to do with repairing armor. Artisan made armor repair kits are the tools used to repair armor.

Repair kits have two metals slots, no optional things.

Armour repair kits used to use Master artisan components (optionally), this was changed some time ago
