I just took up Artisan, and I am trying to make some CDEF Carbines.
It says I need metal, so I picked up some Carbonite Ore. It doesn't want to let me use it in its constrution.
So, what actually counts as a metal in this game. I thought Ore was a raw form of metal, but I guess not in this game.
Thanks.

Ametal on ur survey tool says metal not ore. Metal is stuff like iron, alluminum and steel.

LMAO, not at you just the DEVs. You know i thought about this WAAAAY back when i started artisan. You are right, Ore is unrefined metal. However this is not the real universe, its barely even the SW universe, but regardless ore is ore, there are two categories extrusive and intrusive (then various types under each category). Metal comes in two categories ferrous (steel, iron) and non-ferrous (copper, aluminum). Study the list on the survey tool and you can prolly figure it out.

Only my second post and already I'm arguing.
Ore is a generic term for the raw resource for many things, not just metal. Coal is an ore, but is hardly a metal. Iron ore is the unrefined metal iron. The term 'ore' in this game seems to be reserved for the non-metal raw resources.
BTW, steel is not normally found by mining. It is made by refining iron ore to get iron. The iron is then further refined to get steel. There is no refining in this game, so we get steel 'ores'.
The resource tree in this game is not 100% by any means. When you need metal, look for something specifically listed as a metal in their tree.

Just a thought!
Does reality or real life have any significantmeaning in SWG?
This is not a point for an argument, I appreciate your passion, may be leave reality at the door when you sign-on. They should add that to the splash screen!

No it doesn't, not by a long shot. That was pretty much the conclusion of my thoughts on the subject. You know what Jenar, it doesnt really matter, just harvest the stuff.
But it was only brought up here cuz he asked.
