Woah, hit Enter a bit too quickly, sorry about that. Here's what I intended to ask:

I got a survey mission from an NPC that spawned near me in the fields, to look for 66% Liquid Petrochemic fuel. At least it sais in the missions details: 66 efficiency. It also said that as soon as I would find the 66 it would send the wapoint automayically to the NPC and I would get the reward.

Now that very resource(Ivofiate) happens to be in that very area (surprise?) and also in a concentration of 66 (and up to 90%), so I start surveying, untill the 66% comes up on my screen: but no mission reward. I also managed to make it so, that the survey waypoint fell on a 66% spot: again, no go. THen I took a sample on the 66% spot: no go.

Am I doing something wrong? Should I have done something with the waypoint when it was on the 66% spot? The NPC's by now have despawned but the mission is still there in my Datapad.

Thanks for any tips!

Key words...in that very area. The first (and last) survey mission I took I knew a close by concentration of that resource. No dice.

You've gotta be a certain distance from the starting point (as I said, I took it, got that "Survey too Close" message, and canceled the mission right then and there, so I can't tell you how far) to finish the mission. I've heard everything from 5 clicks for some people to others who have had to go to a whole other planet to be far enough away.

They wanted it so you couldn't make too easy of credits by going to that favorite sampling site...instead they made them so dang frustrating thatI don't know of any artisan that takes them.

Argh stupid message boards...

I took a sampling mission from Moenia, and tried flying all the way across the planet to Theed and it was still considered Too Close. But I'm not sure if Too Close means you're too close to the mission giver, or Too Close to ANY city. Maybe you truly do have to be out in the middle of nowhere for it to be Far Enough.

The mission was worth 1800 credits, so it might be worth trying to fly to another planet...

Wow, thanks guys, I guess I better stick to Destroy missions at 2k a pop then. This one was worth 1560 credit, so I though a nice reward, but having to go to another planet is a bit silly, especially since the fun of finding a vein is already spoiled by the fact you are already found one near you. Kind off defeats the purpose of the "yay, found it!!" part of the quest.

Bump!

I just picked up another survey mission... they're still broken. Actually, I picked up 2 separate ones, one asked for 68% gas, I surveyed immediately after getting the mission, and happened to be standing on 90% gas. I ran around until the survey waypoint fell exactly on the 68% spot... nothing worked. The mission is still active in my datapad. The other survey mission required me to actually run from Theed to the Lake Retreat... after all that work, I finally found the high enough quantity, but the mission didn't end... no reward.

Broken.

I've had three or four of them that worked just fine. The closest was probably 1000m from where I got the mission, another wouldn't accept a high concentration about 5000m away, but I ran a bit farther away and it took it.

One of the missions didn't clear from my datapad after I completed it. I got the reward, and it wouldn't let me do it a second time, but it just stayed there in my datapad. After playing with it for awhile,I deleted it from my datapad sinceI had already gotten the reward.

I usually don't take them though.
