I am fairly new to the Artisan/Weaponsmith field and had a question about resource shifts. I had heard that resources shifted about every 14 days, yet in the past week and a half, I've had to move my mineral harvesters 4 times on Bria. Is this normal?

there is no set time limit in which a resource shifts. you just gotta keep on em and hope they stay up for a while. also you may have caught these resource near the end of their cycle. but resources shift so people dont find a wicked spot and put a million harvs there. hope this helps

My findings..

mineral, chemical,gas & water, got a 7 - 10 day cycle.

flora & creature got 7 - 20 days.

Only the first 7 days are safe to mine, after that it starts to shift out.

Multi planet resources don't shift out on all planets at the same time,

xyz copper may stay 7 days on Lok, but 10 days on Tatooine.

I recommend using www.swgcraft.com

Hello....

Well I am another new Chef. The role has always intrested me quite a bit. Im slowly learning and sinking my teeth into (no pun intended) this crafting area. I would like to thankyou all a lot for the info you have provided here so far. Everyday I read these boards I learn more and more. My question is this. I am finally starting to clue in on how important specific resources are.

I have singled out a couple to go along with the larger foods that sell from what I have gathered and read here. I was wondering is there any rhyme or reason on how resource shifts work? Or any way to keep a look out for them besides hitting every planet everyday and taking a sample? I have visited swgcraft.com. For a lot of stuff it seems out of date and I really dont want to miss out on spawns.

Any suggestions or things you do would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There's not much to do besides helping out and update the resource database. I have made some filters on swgcraft, for the most important resources I need, this helps a lot.On the resource shifts btw, organics can last 20 days and inorganic shifts after 10 days. Could happen sooner, but they don't stay longer than this.

Right now swgcraft is a little neglected. I'm hoping that will change soon. I've been trying my best to contribute, but business is booming and I hate empty vendors.

Anyhoo, I've been using the old school method lately. (1) I take samples from existing harvestors meaning I get 1 unit of everything in the area and examine it. Then I open my survey tool and see if there is anything of interest that I've missed. 9 times out of 10 I can hand pick it from inside a city.
(2)On those planets I dont have a harvestor, I take a personal harvestor, find a safe place to set it and take samples of everything in the area and so on...

As far as meat, bone and hide goes, I network with guildies (especially the heavy grinding types)and I ask them to kill things nearby and read me the stats. It usually doesnt take long to get a good variety of meat hide and bone on most planets from them. On the planets no one hardly goes to (ex. Talus, Rori), I just cruise on up with my combat alt and kill nooby mobs around the city. I get a good variety with little risk.

With no distractions it takes me about 2-3 hours to collect basic flora and animal resource data on all the planets. I dont worry about looking at everything.

Now I need to figure out how to submit to swgcraft ingame. I'm not computer savy and the directions are a little confusing. Is there a way to cut and paste?

I just started updating SWG craft myself, its really not that bad and I am definitely not comp savvy, they have instructions for in game notepad to transfer to SWG craft, or just go to bottom of page for current resources enter name of resources with commas between them all and it brings up a "tab and fill" table .

It takes time but once ya get the hang of it not too bad,

I figured I needed to start helping my server out too after a year of gleaning what info I could....

Another nice trick is to keep an extra Free Resource Crate handy. You can send out Survey droids to all the planets, and when they come back they will give you the names of the resources that are in shift on those planets. With that information, you can use your Free Resource Crate and search for that specific resource and find out the stats on it, then back out and check all the others.Don't even have to leave the comfort of your home
