Thread: A question about missions

OK, I guess this is loosely tied to the artisan profession, since I am constantly running missions to keep my harvesters running.

3 times now, I have been doing an NPC-generated 'destroy' mission and been incapacitated while on the mission. Yes, I realize I am terrible at combat but that's another story. Each time this has happened, I have finished the task, destroyed the nest, and then nothing happens. The waypoint marker just sits there over empty space. When I return to the NPC, he dialogs like I have completed the mission--yet, no credits. My only question is, is this a bug or is this the intended result? I can see them not giving me credit if I get incapped, but at least tell me I've failed the mission or something. I have yet to /bug something in game so I don't know how it works but if this is a bug, then I will re-create it and /bug it. Anyone have any info out there?

Also, an unrelated question that I asked yesterday but can't seem to find my post to see if anyone replied--if I shut off a harvester, does it stop using up maintenance, or just stop using power?

I don't know the answer to your mission question, but harvesters that have been turned off still diminish the maintenance pool.

Cool, we get to talk about shootin stuff! Nice change of pace.

Killing Stuff 101 for the Financially Strapped Artisan (me!)

I've been taking my missions from mission terminals without that problem. Might be a good way to go. If you take your missions from a mission terminal it has a couple of advantages.

1) You can control direction. What I do each evening is grab two missions (most you can take from a terminal) in the direction of my harvestors. Go to a mission terminal and activate. You will get a direction. Check the mission details out. If it's one you want to take in the direction of your harvestors accept it. If you don't like the selection, then exit and restart the terminal. A new list of choices will come up. If my harvestors are to the north, I grab two in that direction. That'll net me 2,000 to 3,200 credits on the way. That'll keep a few harvestors running for another 24 hours.

2) You can control what it is you have to search and destroy. Different animals are susceptible to different types of attacks. Learn the ones that play well into your weapon of choice. Cross train as a marksman and pick a tree to climb. I went with carbine. Your choice. For example, with carbine you get leg shot which goes against the creaters green bar. On my server (I'm on Bloodfin, Corellia), paralopes and durni's are very susceptible to leg shot. Easy kills. So, I only accept paralope or durni mission in the direction of my harvestors. Off I go, knock off some druni's, harvest some hides. pick up some coin, get my resources. Time efficient! Durni's also happen to be very slow (Ieasily out run them). When I am really short on time, I can just destroy the lair by running around in a circle and move on. Takes two minutes and I collect some credits.

Hope this helps.

Oh, and if you find that the missions are too difficult....

The mission terminal seem to (at least in part) look at your equipped stuff (weapon and armor) and select difficulty in part on that. If I start to get missions that are too hard, I unequip my carbine and restart the terminal. I'll get an easier set of mission to chose from. Still too hard, I unequip a piece of armor... and so on.

Yep, it's very good advice, I unequip my rifle and equip a carbine (which I have no skills with) and get cake missions too. I also, as you suggested, choose mission terminal missions which happen to coincide with my harvester locations-kind of like 1 stop shopping. However, I take these NPC missions sometimes because they offer more return. Yesterday I found a guy in Kor Vella who offered me over 2K to take out a bird's nest. I figured, no problem. Well there were a freaking lot of birds in there, they came popping out when I hit the nest once. However somehow I funked up my targeting and hit the nest a second time. Got incapped. Revived, camped, and took out the rest of the birds, and the nest. But the mission wouldn't complete. I also got screwed over with one of Karrde's missions in Doaba Guerfel the same way. I guess my point is, if you get a lucrative NPC destroy mission, take extra care not to get incapped.

I think you have a bug, this would be weird since that game has no bug * beep, wrong *...

I have done many mission, and I am often incap, And I always got the money I was supposed to get.
