Now that the hotfix has nerfed the XP on weapon powerups, what is the most efficient item to make for General Crafting XP. I've been doing wooden staves and they have been giving me 2XP/Resource (32 total) and only take a single type (Wood). Is there anything better to build?

They cut in half the XP granted by crafting weapon powerups (there was a bug causing them to produc double XP (not a nerf really, more of a bug fix)).

the most efficient way to grinding right now is to find the highest xp item that you can make in a reasonably constant fashion... you can grind on anything you want, it all generally yields the same xp. Traps, or actually any organic only resource, will give you better xp than items with inorganic resources, but obviously you need a second profession to get ahold of organics, either novicing yourself or finding a scout to get them for you.

i'm a scout/artisan with a smattering of pistol skills. yeah it's cool to be both scout and artisan. you can make more things and it alleviates some of the grind boredom when you can go hunting animals for resources you can use instead of just sitting and mining. plus you make things you actually can use like camps and traps.

Unless you are truly devoted to and believe in being a crafter through and through (which is fine, just not quite my flavor of crafter), every Artisan/Crafter should develop at least a few levels of a chosen weapon skill and a few of the Scout skills. Being able to be your own supply source for most anything you need to craft most anything you want or get orders for is the best bet IMHO

There's the Bazaars and other markets for when you need supplemental resources of whatever kind but I still believe crafters should gather much of their resources themselves - otherwise you can fall prey to the tides of the market and be tossed this way and that

I've found that chemical survey tools give me 55 gcxp each and they only take one resource.

There are some nice items in the domestics that take lots of fiberplast. These will usually also require some second item to a small degree.

An update: with the new practice mode I get 64 gcxp per chemical survey tool using only 27 metal/mineral so you can sample something like copper until your eyes bleed and practice, practice, practice!
