Thread: Overall quality vs other stats
I'm confused about the overall quality stat. To me it doesn't appear to make sense. I'm comparing two metals one has a very low overall quality, but each of the individual stats are higher than the other. Which metal is better? It seems to me that metal B should have a higher overall quality than metal A. If it helps put this in context I'm trying to sell resources to crafters. Thanks!

The stats are all independant of each other. What makes a "good" metal depends on what you're making. If you're making powerups, yes, you want high Overall Quality (100% OQ dependant). OQ of 1000 and all other stats 1 would make better powerups than something that was 999 in all stats.
If you're making heavy axes, shock resistance is the only thing that matters (critical spec). Etc...
Check the spec first and then find resources with the highest "critcal specs".

The "crit specs" are in the recipes of the crafted item. When you start your crafting session, in the middle is the materials required. At the right hand side, there is a list of conditions that will determine the items functionality. You should try to match materials that suit the conditions... for example, if the item wants high conductivity, go with copper for the metal component.
Thanks for the quick answer..I think I know the answer to this question...BUT...
When the item displays 5%, 10%...or what ever ..during the manufacturing process, is that an indication of the success of the materials selected? ie..20% is better than 5%??

The % value tells you what resource attributes affect the property of the end result and experimentation. For example CDEF weapons are 50% Conductivity/50% Overall Quality for each of the things you can experiment on. By using materials that have high values in these two areas, you will improve the final product.
