Thread: Pricing on Powerups, Batteries, Stimpacks...
I'm noticing some massive discrepancies across all servers in terms of prices being charged on common consumables like Powerups, Stimpacks, and Batteries, and I'm wondering if it's possible for us, as crafters, to at least come to a common consensus of what an adequate baseline would be for these items.
For example, for 30% improvement powerups, I've been charging 100 credits. On another server, someone else charges 20. On another, a person is charging 1000 and claims they fly out of his inventory. So just what IS the actual 'average' price?
Batteries, there's another example. I charge 75, someone else charges 400, another person charges 1000.
Stimpacks (C in this case). I charge 300, some charge 750, still others charge 50.
So, any ideas on how we could stimulate the market a bit by charging some standard prices and work from there?

I started charging 400cr for my Power Ups when they were +25/+10 and they sold pretty good. I tested the market andI now sell my +30/+15 Power Ups for 700-900cr (depending on type of bonus) and all 25 I have on the Bazaar (between 3 citys) sell out in a day and a half. Wiring Kits, Explosive kits, and melee PowerUpsdon't seem to sell as fast
I haven't started makeing Batterys, but it sounds like it may be lucritive[sp?]

I give the stuff away since they use so few resources, give very little exp, and most people I come across don't really even think about weapon buffs (but rather just buy a well made weapon for some horribly high price)
I think what we all have to understand is the supply and demand and dynamic nature of crafting and selling. The price you should charge is whatever the market will allow. If everyone makes them the price will drop due to a saturation. At which time artisans will stop making them since they are a waste of money. Which eventually, means there will be a shortage and artisans will realize they can charge for them again... so they will start making them again. etc. I will bet you anything, you set up shop near a high traffic town with lots of newbies, and prices will be low since there will be dozens of artisans making them. You set up shop on a high level planet with little in the way of cities, and your volume may not be high, but the need will be much greater and you can charge more per unit... kindof like how tourist places charge 3x the cost for film. Stand outside town on a known group hunting path shouting "Last chance to buy powerups and stim packs before you face that Rancor!"and I bet you'll see some sales.
Figure out what others are selling it for, not on these boards, but in your location... and build your business accordingly. I started selling water on tatooine for 3k for 100 units (30:1). I was the only one in the bazaar and it sold in an hour. Now, water is going down closer to 5:1. You find your niche and take advantage of it. Just remember to account for the ever-changing landscape of the crafting art.
Price fixing doesn't work in an open market economy. Someone will always undercut you.
