Thread: 'practice' for crafting sucks, needs to be fixed
i just 'practiced' on my crafting tool for the first time. needless to say, i'm disappointed.
you only get a 5% bonus for practicing? that is ridiculous, and not even worth the time. i get only 6xp more per practice! only 6xp! it's not worth my time!
now, let's look at factories. they only give 10% the xp now... that is only 12xp for the 120xp items i craft. HOWEVER... if i 'practice'... i get only 126xp instead of 120xp.
does anyone else see the problem here? if i use a factory i get lame xp... if i practice the xp is STILL worthless AND i don't get an item to sell. however, i DO develop carpal tunnel syndrome trying to make xp for my profession.
thanks alot soe, you are the greatest! i can't wait for my carpal tunnel to set in, cuz i'm going to sue that hell out of you for nerfing factory xp!
Practice is also good while you experiment to build a perfect schemtaic to run in a factory. If the item isn't perfect just hit practice and try again.
If you choose to grind exp than you won't be happy. It's just a frustrating process because you see how far away you are and how slowly you are getting there.
I am pretty sure they put in the Practice option to cut down on the number of "useless" items in the game. Which just take up resource space on the servers.
They really didnt do it to make someone be able to grind to the top. I do think that it should be a little higher xp bonus though maybe 10%
Just my 2 cents.
Even so, I still liked it better when it was 25%, but I knew it wouldn't last. :/
Why not 50% or 100%. Hell why not just put a button on the UI that anyone can press to generate 1xp. That will keep the grinders happy as they click away like cocaine obsessed monkeys.
Null Tensor
I made my way to novice architect. About a quarter of my xp to get there was from sheer grinding. I'd make crap as fast as I could, delete them and do it again. Even if "practice" did NOT grand 5% xp, I'd STILL use it, just so I wouldn't have to waste time deleting all the crap that nobody in their right minds would ever buy!
As far as factories go . . . the idea is not to get xp from the items they make. Factories are to make items to SELL, plain and simple. My question is . . . do you still get full uxp from items made from factories? Or is your uxp determined from the 10% factory xp?
They actually put the practice option in to fix their DataBase problem.
The big database crash they had a little while back was primarily caused by all the items grinders were making then deleting. It was causing a bug in the db. They figured the best way to fix it was to make it so grinders never actually made those items they were going to just delete in the first place.
There are things about it that need to be fixed, yes, but they have nothing to do with the amount of XP granted. So far arguments from 0% to 100% (Albeit sarcastically) have been made. Most of these arguments are purely opinions and don't lend towards any indication that this aspect of practicing is "broke".
What is questionable, however, is the fact that it still ties up the crafting device. While this may be intended you get no message informing you when it is available again since no prototype is made. Practicing for the Devs might have been a matter of their Database issue, but for the Artisan it is a matter of convience. I don't think the practice time should be removed, but maybe 75% of normal crafting and a message should be outputted stating that the Crafting device is ready for use.
Any serrious grinder I know of has enough grinding tools so that he never NEEDS to know when a prototype is done. While one's finishing . . . you're using the second . . . or third if you're grinding big things fast.
I would prefer to NOT have to grind . . . but if I'm going to do it . . . might as well do it right. ![]()
