Thread: The ultimate solution to fixing the economy in one foul swoop?

Have you ever thought what would happen if every Artisan put his items on the bazaar on "Auction" starting at 100cr instead of "Instant Sale" ?

Advantages:

1. Since all prices are the same consumers would be forced to look at stats more closely.

2. No undercutting or ridiculous prices for undervalued items.

3. No price wars since the consumers would set the price and fight over price quietly on the bazaar.

Disadvantages:

1. Potential loss of income since a lot of items would be sold below reasonable profit margins.

2. Less volume but again potential large profit. (Instead of selling 3 items for 100 credit it's likely that you can sell 1 item for 300 credits)

Just some thoughts. Let's hear yours.

The real problem with this, especially with raw materials, is that people don't want to wait. I usually have to buy my Hides and Bones. I'd hate to have to wait 6 days.

Want to make money on the bazaar?

1) Make needed product

2) Make a Valuable Product

3) Offer it as a resonable price.

I'm a great example of a non-grinder calual player. I play 1-2 hours a day and split my time between Crafting, Music, and Hunting in friends. Sine the came came iut I'd been able to make master artisen. I also pull un at least 10 a day sell various things. You just have to figure out the market in your area.

I have no problems selling my items. I even sold some lowbie clothes that I wasn't sure would even sell.

I think being in a large city to sell items helps a lot so you get very high volume traffic. I put detailed discriptions of my items on the bazaar so people know why I might be charging more than other people. Some items go faster than others, but overall I'm making a decent profit on everything.

I have found Artisan Items that sell very well, mostly because I make high quality items and have a set formula for selling them. I am on Sunrunner server, and make Ranged Weapon Power Ups. All my Power Ups are 35-45 % total upgrade to weapon. So far I can't keep them in stock, selling usually between 5-10 a day.

The pricing formula I have is for every 5% of Uprade, I charge 5 credits, and I NEVER sell any Power Ups that are less then 30% effective. There is way to much junk in the Bazaar now and with the limit of 26 auctions, I can't afford to have crap items taking up one of these slots.

One of my other good selling items is Bone Armor, quality grade Bone Armor Pieces (usually chest armor because it gets me the most experience making it), and sell that for 750 credits a piece. Now you see lower quality Bone Armor for sale quite often, however I do alot of missions and always harvest Bone/Hides so the cost of these for me is low, though I do buy some higher quality materials but not often.

The other way I make decent money is selling junk resources those with Overall Quality ratings below 200. I sell these in lots of 200 and usually only charge 500 credits for them. They sell quickly to folks usually looking to use them to make Stimpacks with them, or so they tell me when I ask. Don't think any Artisans have purchased to make good with, if they have, sorry for adding to the flood of crap items in the Bazaar.

To recap, Power Ups, Bone Armor, and Low Quality Resources are what keep me a profitable Artisan. Hope this helps and happy crafting.

It's fell swoop, not foul. A foul swoop is getting hit by a flying garbage truck.

Anyways, the economy only really needs two things:

1. Increased decay rate on existing items to help take money out of the system, particularly for perishables like spice and food. Clothes need to decay as well, as I believe they don't decay at all right now.

2. Weapon and Armor types should be tied strictly to experience levels. CDEFs would actually sell if that's all anyone could use until Pistol III. Novice weapon and armorsmiths definitly need a market for their mid-range products, and I think this would help immensely.

I'd have to agree, at least for weapons certs. It really surprised me to see that, for the cost of 100 credits and 15 skill points, any old schmoe can getupgraded weapon certs through Novice Marksman. Talk aboutremoving the market for Artisan-level weapons.

Thanks for the replies. Oh, the "foul" instead of "fell" was intentional . This is by no means a whine. I did not post this because I'm having problems selling items. I too sell powerups and make good cash. Ifound that even melee weapon kits do fairly well. The intention of this post was to get some thoughts on the strategy of selling on Auction vs. Instant sale.

I know most peoplehave the "I want itNOW" mentality, but there's definatleyanothermarket where people that really spend the time looking for the best item will buy from an auction.

I just got back from Kor Vella. Those of you that have been there know how tough it is with the gang around the shuttle port. Recently I put 6 items on Auction there and sold all of them. The guys fighting out there know it's an unpopular market but also with so much action right next to the Bazaar terminal they know they are going to need a good powerup and don't mind to buy on auction.

My conclusion is that Auction works best on a starved market.
