Thread: What is up with the pitiful xp for Deeds?
I don't have much Artisan but my son's character is trying to gain General Crafting xp. I helped him sample all of the resources needed for him to make a Wind Power Generator Deed and a Personal Mineral Extractor Deed. It took a couple of hours for me as I only have Surveying 2. Not to mention, having to wander around trying to find the best place to sample from. Finally, I get everything he needs and get it to him.
So, before he starts we check his gen crafting xp. He then makes both the deeds. We check his gen crafting xp again and find he has gained a grand total of 3 xp.
Pardon me, but that seems like a very unfair amount of xp given the time investment necessary to create those objects. Maybe this has been brought up before but I am not an Artisan so I don't read this particular board that often. Anyway, I sincerely hope this gets corrected.
Heckl, I went into architect . . . and I would rather the xp have gone into general rather than structural xp. Would have gotten to my goal a LOT faster that way!
On the bright side . . . I'm already halfway to Installation I . ..

I believe the bulk of the XP shows up as Structure Building XP. I am a Master Artisan, and that is how it registers for me.
Thanks for that info. But now I have to ask, who's bright idea was it to have that give Structure Building XP when it becomes available prior to becoming an Architect? I wish there was a way for it to register as Gen Crafting xp if the player doesn't yet have Architect trained.

Well that's the way the devs think.
It can also be seen, although more appropriately I think, when you hit business III. Put up that big ol' gigantor cigarette machine of a vendor you get and watch the "Merchant" XP roll in. I qualified for Novice Merchant before I had finished off the business tree.
There is a steady protest of making the artisan granted deeds give gcxp but, IMO, that would leave architects a bit SOL. Sure they'd get to Novice Architect a bit quicker, but once there they'd be left high and dry of sorts. They're one of the most, if not THE most, resource intensive professions and without building their needed tools they'd have a long grind to an Intermediate skill. Granted DE's are faced by the same thing (nearly 400 MSE's) but that profession is broke more than a 76 Pinto.
Just my steaming pile of dren on the issue
Hydrargyrum
Intrepid
Master Artisan
Weaponsmith (for now)

What I am saying is why can't the game program perform a check on the player doing the craftng to see if said player has Novice Architect trained or not? If he does, the xp would be given as Structure xp. If he doesn't, the xp would be given as gcxp.
I am a Droid Engi, err... I am the most gimped Proff I meant to say![]()
Just my 2 cents from my trudging trek up to Master Artisan and then Novice Droid Engi. 2 of the best things to grind up on would be Weapon Powerups: cheap at 10 units of resources and fairly simple to grind through(just don't try and sell crappy grinded powerups, simply destroy them or practice em instead) and Bone Armor Chest Plates (they are the best GCXP item you can make at lower levels)
As far as getting Structure XP from making Harvestors, I kinda like it if I want to become an Architect. But I think the way some crafting XP is designated could be changed. Like the fact that we end up getting tons of Surveying XP with no benefit after acheiving Survey IV.
