Thread: Factory's and items that require multiple sub combines

Last night I placed my first factory. I was very excited about making crates full of highly effective Stim-Bs

For those that don't make meds, the Stim Bs require 12 inorganic and 12 organic + 3 items you have to craft prior to the final Stim B combine. Those are 1 liquid suspension, 1 Bio enhancer, 1 chem delivery.

My first 3 factory runs were of the 3 subcombines and they worked great. Then the head ache started. I loaded the Stim B schematic and the inorganic and organic resources, followed by the 3 crates of subcombines. I turned the factory on and 2 min late I get an email saying the job was done and 0 products were made!?!?!?!?!?!?

I took out 1 of each of the items from the crates and combine and got a Stim B so I know the components were right. I pulled up the list of ingredients and match all the serial numbers so they were all correct.

Did I do something wrong? Is there a bug about using factory crates in your factory? If so, is there a work around for this? and is a perminate fix on the Dev's radar?

Crated items must be uncrated to make the final product. Unfortunate head ache and royal pain in the butt, but its how it works. If this is a bug or "as intended" I couldn't tell you. I would think its a bug, but some things I view as bugs the devs seem perfectly happy with.

So just to make sure I got this right before I put the factory back up;

To make it work I will,

1.) Make the 3 subcombines which will be in ctates

2.) Load the final product schematic into the factory

3.) Put in the inorganic, organic for the quantity I want

4.) Uncrate 10 or so of the subcombines and put them in the ingrediant hopper?

This will make 10 of the final product, at which point I out in 10 more of the subcombined product?

OR

Do I have to sit there the whole time feeding the factory 1 each of the 3 subcombines to make it work?

ps. Thank you for the responce.

Yes, your first plan will work fine.

The only reason I have to sit and continually feed the input hopper is when I have more than 100 uncrated items (when making Factory Walls for instance - for Architect).

Here's what I do...

Make subcomponents 1000 at a time, and leave them in the factory (has HUGE capacity)

To make the final product, I put in my full stack of organic, full stack of inorganic...

then, open output hopper, grab one of each crate, and pop 32 of each item, and place them into the input hopper. total should now be 98/100 items. stash the now half empty crates in my house (you can drop them on the floor, but do NOT drop more than one in exactly the same place)

Wait for the finish email, then come back and repeat until you're sick of it.

I also leave the crates of finished product in the output hopper until I am ready to sell them.

BTW, I reported this as a trouble ticket, and was told to /BUG it. everyone please /bug this problem asap!

OK, here's how I understand (what I think is) this issue.

-To make anything in a Factory you have to make a Manufacturing Schematic for it.

-For anything that takes already manufactured components to make, the Manufacturing Schematic you make has to be made with a unit of the required component with the same Serial Number. Hence as far as I can figure you need to make 100 (or other mass-produced number you choose) of all the components needed for the final Manufacturing Schematic. Then you need to make the actual Manufacturing Schematic you will use using 1 of each of the Factory made components (since they will all have the same Serial Number). This will give you a Manufacturing Schematic set to utilize the like-serial-numbered components you made. The only drawback (though this is the only way to make this process work successfully as far as I know) is that your intended run of 100 items will have to be limited to 99 since your component runs of 100 would need to give up 1 item for the final Schematic.

Hope this helps. Also hope this is correct, though I am pretty sure it is cause that was the only way I was able to complete my run of a Mouse Droid with a Medical Module (already Factory Produced) included.
