Thread: My method a macroing A Popup Deterant
Yes yes, I know some are of the opinion that it's unethical to macro. But I will say that I tried the Harvester thing, and it's just way too expensive for a lonely Architect like me. But the big thing is, they keep MOVING the resources, so it's almost pointless to devote all of that money into something that will have to be moved in a day or so. Once they finally decide to stop moving the resources, then I will finally decide to stop macroing, but until then...
Ahem..
I have set up my macro to do one sample at a time, stand up, and then as soon as my HAM bars are full, sample again. My Action stats are 500 and 500, so this time works out great for me. You may have to play with the pause values to make it work for you, but the trick here is to make sampling indefinate with minimal waiting. As soon as my Action pool reaches maximum, I'm sampling again. But the big thing is, it will not tank when the popups occur. I came home the other day and had 43 popups, but I was still sampling. So here's my macro.
/sample;/pause 5;/stand;/pause 40;/ui action toolbarSlot06;
I feel kinda bad posting this, because if the popups were a macro deterant, they will now have this to work again. But I say again, as soon as the materials stop moving, the sooner I stop macroing.

It's not so much that it's unethical (impolite,sure) but that it's against the rules of the game (EULA), both using the macro and posting it (distributing).
Resources are designed to move on a 5-8 day cylcle, not "in a day or so". It's an additional cost you have to figure into your resources - just part of the business - it should affect the price of your end products.
It's just part of the "system" you have to figure out how to work effectively. Just like figuring out the best tactics to use when taking out different creatures and lairs.
