I am a pretty low level weaponsmith and a master artisan. I remember this question being asked but never clearly answered so i ran some small scale experiments comparing XP gained from experimented and non-experimented items. These are the results:

Lets start with general artisan items:

Electronics Memory Module: Experimented: 114 XP

ok that was just odd, a double post and i wasnt done yet..... oh well. from the begining.

Electronics Memory Module Experimented: 114

Electronics Memory Module Unexperimented: 129

Very puzzling

Nemoidian Bird Cage Experimented: 126

Nemoidian Bird Cage Unexperimented: 162

Ok. This is just odd. Lets move on to Weaponsmith Items.

Power Coupler both Experimented and Unexperimented: 150

Blaster Rifle Barrels both Experimented and Unexperimented: 345

D17 Short Carbine both Experimented and Unexperimented: 315

So, weaponsmith experimentation seems to matter not at all when XP is the main concern.

*some notes. items were made in batches of 3. i used 3 seperate crafting tools. these 3 tools were used for each group. the same crafting station was used for every item. the same materials were used in every similiar item. all available crafting points were used. there were no critical failures. there were no experimentation failures or successes belor 'great success'.

I dont know how experimentation and xp are SUPPOSED to work, but this shows how it works for artisan and weaponsmith. if anyone else would like to do similiar experiments in other elite artisan professions and post the results here i would appreciate the info.

grrr. no edit. "all available crafting points" should read "all available experimentation points"

I just did the same thing a few days ago and it didn't seem like experimenting had any difference at all. I'll go back and test it again.

I have done my own experimentation and found that experimenting does nothing at all for XP, though I also discovered that any crafted item gives around 2 XP per resource used.

Craft well, and may the grind exite you!

ok. so now we know experimenting has no positive effect on XP gained, does anyone know if it is SUPPOSED to? or maybe a dev would read this and give a nice lil 2 word reply
