How about getting some Artisans to be able to make murals, paintings, sculptures, baskets, rugs, tapestries... When I think of Artisan, I think of paintings and such. Anyone agree?

I do see his point, there are paintings, statues, fountains...I imagine this will be part of the Urban Planner profession when it comes out. An elite-elite profession. Maybe it would require Entertainer training too (the Aaaahts..)
Put another way, I wouldn't necessarily trust the guys down at the TV repair shop to make me a painting for my living room

Just a quick note. I agree entirely that there should at least be some kind of artistic profession line, but Art is where ya make it.
I'm gonna do an original post so as not to try ta steal this thread.
I really like the idea of artisans making tapistries, paintings, and sculptures!

Ask a real-life artisan some time if he can paint, or make tapestries. He'll probably look at you funny. Artisans aren't artists, they are craftsmen.

Not to be too pedantic, but it can be either.
From Websters:
Artisan
\Ar"ti*san\ (?; 277), n. [F. artisan, fr. L. artitus skilled in arts, fr. ars, artis, art: cf. It. artigiano. See Art, n.] 1. One who professes and practices some liberal art; an artist. [Obs.]
2. One trained to manual dexterity in some mechanic art or trade; and handicraftsman; a mechanic.
Most people do mean the second definition when they use the word, however.
