Thread: Will Vehicles be a Grinding Tool?

I hate to mention it, but will the "large" general crafting exp payoff allow players to rapidly swap between novice advanced professions? It looks like I (working on Armorsmith) will be able to pick up Novice Tailor to generate Synthetic Cloth by building about 10-15 bikes. I can then make a factory run, swap those points to Novice Chef and run off some food, swap to Weaponsmith run off upgrade kits, swap to DE run compartments or whatever. All this in an evening, plus I get to sell the bikes.

Yes, you are correct. That could be done. The only limiting factor is that you have the resouces available to make the vehicles.

This is another example (in a growing list) of how the devs make changes to the crafting system without thinking through the consequences. They saw that vehicles were too ease to make, so they upped the resource requirements rather that gating them with rare resources or other means. I expext that we will see the resources for them change about a month after they go live. They will allow them to be made and sold to all the existing customers (which will keep from making for an angry customer base) and then they will drop the requirements back to smaller amount of more rare resources. Probably 1k of duranium or duralloy steel and 1k of one of the rare copper or aluminum types.

Requirements have been cut considerably, down to about 1/3 of what they were yesterday. In addition, the xp payoff from making vehicles is low, very low, as compared with other items, so if one is trying to grind using the fewest possible units of resources, vehicles will be a poor choice. If one instead does not care, and just wishes to advance quickly to an elite profession, vehicles will do pretty well (I believe they range between 1400 and 1600 or so xp per vehicle?) but the resource expense will be high.

Of course, if demand remains relatively strong, it would be worth it.

Taking a well-deserved vacation from his successful Droid Engineering business, Master Rho can be found puttering around the galaxy.

why do you care so much? finally master artisans get something they can do worth while. Most people who went to master either wanted to feel like they accomplished something, the others got it only because there elite profession needed some parts. honestly don't see a great deal of people grinding to jump around proffesions. one, it costs time in running around, money for training, and a whole lot of resources. there are other things to grind and the elites only need one teir to reach. i really don't see a big issue like you do. don't make mountains out of mole hills. and don't always look for problems. find solutions that make everyone only a little misserable cause there is no way you can make everyone happy.

um. It's not like it's hard now. Wind power generators allowed me to reach the gen crafting xp requirement for architect in like 2-3 hours (forget exactly how long).

who cares?

I am sorry, but this makes no sense, you can grind to become these elites without master artisan.

To become a master artisan you have to get AP points and survey (which is easy) but you can grind to the elite profession by just followinga singletree. The eng tree is easy to grind up and the objects that you can create on that tree would be a better, more economical grind to get the elite profession. So I don't see a point of making this statement, other than trying to negate the MA status. MAs allready have no purpose other to provide an alternative to buying GPs and Memory Mods...

It will be too expensive to use them to grind, but they will have a higher rate of selling than any other grind item.

The x34 is 0.4 experience per resource is abyssmal compared to smaller items that give out around 1.5 - 2 experience per resource.

The swoop and 74-z are even worse at 0.2 and 0.27 xpu respectively.

I will expect the price on an x34 to plummet due to some grinding.
