It depends on the quality of your repair kit I believe, if you have low quality you will as good as always fail.

my apologies on my ignorance...im by no means an artisan i just figured someone on the forums would know the answer....is there any chance you can give me a chart or good idea of what level of quality i would need to be able to take ris armor at 50 percent and feel comfortable trying to repair it? (over exaggerating of course, but it gives you an idea of how much i hate my stuff going to peices)

I wouldn't dare using anything below 95%, but that's just me

I don't know how big the failure rate is, butthere was some post about it before that had some nice in-detail description.

I dunno.. I've found that quality has meant squat on failure rates. I'd done better with my 35%er .. and crapped out with my 99.9%er as often as not...

...and I'm a Master. Go figure.

It seems to me that it's still luck of the draw. Quality has given me bragging rights, that's about it.

Right. I madea 99% weapon repair kit for a guy who claimed he always failed... and he failed again

Being a master armorsmith and getting lots of requests for repairs, I can say from experience that repair is broken. Even at master, I fail a lot trying to fix armor. I use a high tool, but it really seems random. I've fixed near broken armor and not fixed near broken armor, I've busted 50% condition armor and fixed 50% condition armor. I stand near my armor crafting driod or my personal crafting station, seems to work but of course I have no proof that it does. I just tell people I will not be responsible for breakage. Repair is broken plain and simple, get a good tool and hope for the best.

I could be wrong but i thought that i heard that only smith's can reapir... ex. non weaponsmiths will always fail when trying to repair a weapon. Master weaponsmiths will be the best at repairing a weapon. Master tailors are best at clothing..... and so on and so on.

I tried to repair a weapon when i was an artisan and it fell to pieces. Once i got to master weaponsmith weapons i would repair would lose an average of 42 points off the life. I dropped master and the amount of points started increasing and as did the failures.

I don't know if it is like that for other proffessions but as far as i know thats how it works for weaponsmiths.

One more thing to note is that i only used 99.999999% repair tools, so i guess it doesn't matter how good the tool is necessarily, more dependent on the crafter himself/herself.

Nope. I don't know what determines it but you don't have to be a weaponsmith to repair weapons. I've repaired a lot of weapons successfully (minor blemishes). On the other hand, I have about 50% fail rate with repairing armor.
