Hello, I am new in SWG and have started, an Artisan I have the following 2 questions regarding the Artisan:
1- When you make an item for example personal mining facility it says: extraction rating 25% heat resistance, 25% conductivity and 50% toughness. Does that mean:
a- extraction rating depends for 25% on HR, 25% on CD and 50% on toughness? Or
b- extraction rating depends on the relativeness these raw materials must have in the product, thus in the item you
must have a relativeness of 25% HR, 25% CD and 50% toughness ?
2- I have made a personal harvester. After making it,the server said"amazing succes", I assume this is because I have used good raw materials. But still my extraction rating is 1 while there are personal harvesters with an extraction rating of 3. Is this because my artisan whilst using the good raw material isstill not high in the skills? Does quality also depends on the skill (master, novice) the artisan has?

Okay...
1- When you make an item for example personal mining facility it says: extraction rating 25% heat resistance, 25% conductivity and 50% toughness. Does that mean:
It means: it is relying on those 3 attributes at a rate of 25/25/50. So if the steel you are using has a 500 HR, 500 Cond, and 250 UT, the formula would be ((HR*25)+(Cond*25)+(UT*50))/100 to find the total quality. Using my steel above ((500*25)+(500*25)+(250*50))/100 or ((12500)+(12500)+(12500))/100 or a total value of 375 (call this the steels value index. The value index of a material changes depending on what you need, so this steel may not be great for the harvesters but it might be awesome for something else. The higher the value index is the better for the task at hand. The value index will also determine the max value you can get through experimentation. If you want I can get really in depth on how all of that works too, but that could get really long and complicated.
2- ..."amazing success"...
That is the quality of success you rolled, an amazing success is the best possible success you can get. The reason you still only had an extraction rate of 1 was that you still need to experiment to get it higher. The 1 BER is the default for crafting a personal harvester. With good materials and good successes as a master you can get the to a 4 BER. I think a 5 BER is possible, but I've never seen one. As you advance in artisan you'll get more experimentation points. Build things near a crafting station to be able to experiment on them.
I hope this helps at least a little. I'm pretty tired ATM, so I may have to clear up some of this in the morning if someone else hasn't do so by then.
