Thread: Crafting tool 'rating'

Hello, another quick n0Ob question from me, what affect does the 'rating' of the crafting tool have on the finished article? I saw a '+14' tool for sale, and I wondered how that might compare to the '-13ish' stuff I have!

Higher ratings mean less chance of critical fails.

Actually, I don't think that's true (there seems to be a flat percentage chance of a crit fail, especially considering some notes that went up about crafting changes included in the next publish). However, it does look like you get better successes (amazing vs. great, great vs. moderate, etc) with better tools, stations and assembly/experimentation skill. Player cities can also get a manufacturing/research specialization which improves the success of assembly/experimentation.

Someone did a great test awhile back and posted the results. I can't find the link anymore, but if I remember right it did in that test, confirm less criticals and more 'better' sucesses.
