i cant seem to figure out how to gain survey exp . I go out and survey to find a good spot and then I sample, but I only get about 25-40 exp person sampling. Am I an idiot or does the entire survey tree go like that? Only about 25 exp at a time? I needinfo please!

yup.

just find a high concentration spot of (usually chemical... 95% is not uncommon) and sample for like 4 hours straight or more. you'll get it eventually.

ok thanks for the people who left me any help, but i have another question. Is there any mineral sampling that gives more exp than the others? I've tried a few of them but they dont seem to give more or less exp.

Nope, though bigger sample = more xp, bar if you get a rich sample. You could always try to find a 'Sample rich' city

Try to survey for a high-concentration resource (chem, as mentioned, tends to get really high) in a city with an artisan trainer. It's safer than being out in the wild, and you can train in the next surveying skill as soon as you have the required xp. That should help some. You can also utilize a macro to do the sampling for you. It won't make it go faster, but will let you do other (RL) things.

Also, do not attempt to sample radioactive unless your health insurance is paid up! Actually, you might even be able to hook up with an xp-needing doctor or entertainer to heal you, even as that glowing dirt you dig up is eating up your insides...hmmm.

You need to use an AFK macro for Surveying, once you have found a high concentration of some resource.

Your character will sample, rest, sample, rest for hours on end while you are logged in but away from the keyboard. You can gain a thousand or more Survey points this way, and rise one or more Survey levels each time. I will be back in the US on June 6th, and can send you a message containing a good AFK macro your character can use if you are still having this problem.

If you leave the AFK macro running overnight you must remember to log out your character beforeSWG reboots its servers. My character has survived 2 reboots out of sheer dumb luck but there is a risk of your character being harmed if he is logged in at the time of the reboot (possibly your character would get rolled back to Noob level, I am not sure of the exact worst-case-scenario effects of being logged in at the time of reboot).
